I see that Archie Comics has removed these two titles from the subscription list.  That's a bad sign that they may no longer be published. 

Betty's last issue solicited so far is #191 out in March
Archie and Friends is running at least til #154 due to the Little Archie story being promoted out in April.

CONFIRMED FROM ARCHIE COMICS:
'There will only be a few issues left on each title and then both titles will be canceled' is the reason they were removed from the subscriptions.  Shame Betty was almost to #200.

There will now be only four 32-Page comics:
Archie, Betty & Veronica, Jughead and Veronica.

I'd never have expected "Betty" to get canceled before "Veronica," especially since Betty has had her own title since the '60s and Veronica didn't get one until the '80s (which was the subject of jokes in "Betty and Me" that Veronica was jealous of not having her own comic). But I guess the Kevin Keller story has boosted "Veronica" sales while "Betty" doesn't really have its own personality - since it overlaps so much with "Betty and Veronica."

I'm just glad Jughead still has his own 32-page comic. There are some traditions that ought to live on.

That's a crying SHAME i was looking for more issues for both comic titles at lease keep one of the ARCHIE COMIC TITLES instead of ending both and besides what if i mean what if is the next comic story is not as fun as the last issue of ARCHIE or JUGHEAD or BETTY & VERONICA or BETTY or VERONICA or ARCHIE & FRIENDS and one the very lats issue of that Comic Book ended on a VERY SAD ENDING the new comic title that replaces one of two ARCHIE COMIC TITLES and that New Comic Title turns out to be a FLOP then The REAL LOSERS are us The Archie Comics Fans for crying out LOUD try too keep one of the ARCHIE COMIC TITLES or both.

P.S. if you what to replace just one title try to make this Transition to be a Smooth Comic Book Title Transition to Another and one Archie Comics Fan to Another rather to just Unnecessary Cancelled both Popular ARCHIE COMIC TITLES TRY TO JUST KEEP ONE ARCHIE COMIC TITLE and besides not every comic book reader are NOT REALLY in to Superhero Comics
some of us only liked to see them on Television or in the Movies and some or all of us are in to Archie Comics from the Beginning and what ever you are going to do PLEASE KEEP ONE OF THE ARCHIE COMIC TITLES PLEASE JUST KEEP ONE OF THE ARCHIE COMIC TITLES.

I hope the Pres. of this Company can read this Message that i just typed oh well at lease i'm trying my Best.

This is horrible news. While "Archie and Friends" could easily be axed (really, it's Archie and, well, anyone else in the Archieverse), Betty should continue to have her own comic book!

Time for another petition?

I think it would have made more sense to pull the plug on the Betty & Veronica title myself, just so Betty and Veronica could each have their own.

Ugh...why do they keep decreasing the number of titles?

If Archie & Friends and Betty were making money for the company, they wouldn't get canceled.  So it's probably necessary.  Sad to hear, though.  :(

I pulled these figures from http://www.comicsworthreading.com -- they're Archie Comics circulation numbers from 2009.  (They won't post 2010 numbers until sometime early this year.)

Average copies sold in 2009:

Archie - 11,493
Archie & Friends - 8,099
Betty - 8,314
Betty & Veronica - 11,283
Veronica - 7,981
Jughead - 7,823

These are averages.  By the end of 2009, Jughead's latest issue was outselling Betty's latest issue.

Sales figures at end of 2009:

Archie #605 - 13,201
Archie & Friends #139 - 9,810
Betty #184 - 9,772
Betty & Veronica #246 - 12,742
Veronica #199 - 10,178
Jughead #199 - 9,876

By the end of 2009, Archie & Friends and Betty were the worst-selling titles.  That trend might have continued in 2010.

What's sad is that the Archie & Friends and Betty titles are the only ones I can get at any stores in town.  So, I guess there's more business lost there.  :(

Not all is lost.  They are probably doing this to make room for the new VERONICA & BETTY magazine which is equal to two regular sized comics.  Also there was word at the 2010 Comic Con that ARCHIE BABIES and MEGA MAN were two new titles debuting in 2011. 

If they are ending ARCHIE & FRIENDS and BETTY what titles would you like to replace them with?  What classic titles would you bring back?

If I could bring back a title, either PEP or Reggie & Me.  I think we could use a Reggie title, and I think we could use a hodge-podge title like PEP, or even Laugh.
