  • JonInIowaCity: I just blogged about LWA 37. [link]  I'll write up some stuff later in the week about last week's Mega Man and this week's Afterlife.
  • Archie Comics Collector: @I meant to say that there are no longer any logos on the cover from that B&V Friends 240 and on mentioning 320 pages and Giant Sized and that this issues descriptions just show 288 pages as you mentioned.
  • Archie Comics Collector: @spazaru- Good eye, but that is not the only jumbo issue that seems to have 288 pages. Starting with the August solicitations with Betty and Veronica Friends 240 Jumbo comics, all Jumbo comics shown in the solicits from then on to the current solicits no longer have the logo Giant Sized and 320 Pages but 288 pages. Jughead with Archie Jumbo comics #5 is the last one coming in a few weeks that still shows 320 pages and Giant Sized. I will call Archie tommorrow and see if this changing as shown in the solicits.
  • spazaru: I noticed in the October solicits on Archiecomics.com, the Betty and Veronica Jumbo Comics is only 288 pages instead of 320.  If that's true, that's kind of a rip since they just raised the price.  Hopefully it's not a trend, but just that issue.
  • JonInIowaCity: What I'd really like to see though is a series featuring Star Andrews. Or something featuring LWA's Jellybean Jones.
  • BettyReggie: I hope we get a magazine that similar to Life with Archie but focuses on Reggie & Betty & Veronica & Jughead,
    Today at 08:54:09 PM
  • spazaru: Life With Little Archie!  LMAO Jon.  I wish!
  • spazaru: Hopefully there will be an announcement from SDCC that takes place in Riverdale featuring live characters that aren't part of the occult.  Not holding my breath.
  • BettyReggie: We have been watching Archie's Weird Mysteries on Qubo. Tonight it's one about when Reggie gets trapped by aliens.
  • BettyReggie: It's so hot, do you have a air conditioner? I'm putting mine on now so my room will be cool

  • PTF: Well, going with the trend...The Grim End of That Wilkin Boy or maybe The Nine Deaths of Josie. :)
  • JonInIowaCity: The announcement of "Life With Little Archie!"  j/k
    Today at 07:10:04 PM
  • BettyReggie: I meant to write what do you think is going to be?
  • BettyReggie: So what do you think the big news from SAN DIEGO COMIC CON?
  • BettyReggie: See you all later 8)
  • JonInIowaCity: Mitsu: It's not uncommon for a shop to require a minimum number of pulled titles.
  • Magic Necromancer: jesus....is the comic industry in such a bind that they gotta keep jacking up prices on issues?
  • BettyReggie: Finoa Staples is going be there at SAN DIEGO COMIC CON. I wish she would say that Betty and Veronica #267 would be a poster. I would love to hang that on my wall.
  • BettyReggie: Hopefully this week we will get big news from SAN DIEGO COMIC CON, maybe by Saturday we will know what's new.
  • Magic Necromancer: and even at Indie Publishers it can be hard to find cheaper titles....so it's not hard to assume $4.99 will be the new standard when publishers decide they need to make more money to stay in business

Yikes. Looks like Captain Hero is going to have to buy three issues of Jughead and Double Digest now. :)

I doubt that the Jughead Double Digest will be going anywhere...even though it is on the low end of the digest sales, it's ranked #5 overall...but I could see the B&V Friends title disappearing...
DIGESTS: 2319

COMICS:  2019

TOTAL:  4338

Those sales figures certainly don't make me optimistic regarding the Archie comics long term. I'm concerned about them not realizing any outside ad revenue, that's got to hurt the bottom line. At least the digests are hitting numbers similar to the top half of Marvel and DC books.

Jughead has never really sold as well as Archie or the girls' book- I'm actually surprised it outsells "B&V Friends". He's not the flagship (like Archie) and his books have very few pretty girls or even an girl-related stuff at all (Archie's key audience for the most part), so it makes sense. It's really around kind of as an "Artifact" of the old days, as there's ALWAYS been a Jughead comic- it'd be kind of sad to lose it (and maybe embarassing to lose another title). Plus he's obviously Fernando Ruiz' favourite main character (either that, or he drew a really short straw, since he always draws Jug!), and the favourite of several other writers & artists as well- creatively, Jughead is probably the most-fulfilling book to work on.

I'd certainly hate to see his books go.

I think not including the Sonic and Megaman issues distorts the over all picture a bit.  Good to see the top selling series may be Betty and Veronica DD though.  Also seems like finding back issues will probably not be a problem for quite sometime into the future.  lol

Thanks for the link. I like the idea of anthology books and the 50's theme is a cool direction to start out with. I will keep my eyes open for when this comes available.

At first I was expecting Iron Ghost to be a continuation of the Shadow-type character from a few years back. The splash page looks good btw.

That surprises me- you draw so much Jughead! Granted, Reggie books haven't been produced in a long, LONG time.

I can't post the list because I'm having trouble with formatting. Anyway, as a reference using April sales there were 68 separate books that sold 30,000 or more. The top four sold between 103,000 and 158,000 copies. Through Diamond Sonic sold 8800 copies.   Let me know if you need info on a specific title.
