  • Jabroniville: Yeah, that's odd- Thor usually has the Hammer out in front. Though I don't think it's ever explained how he can throw it while in mid-flight and not just plummet like a goof. I wish artists would stop having him do things like that :)

  • Steveinthecity: @Biolante:  Thor uses the hammer to fly. He can throw his hammer during flight and float in one spot until the hammer returns to him. Don't know what Joe Q. was thinking there. I've never seen Thor fly on his own.

Wow, the cover kind of sucks.  For one, it doesn't look much like a wedding.  Looks like they're on a parade float.  Shouldn't have to have a banner behind them to tell us that they were married.  It should have been conveyed without text I think.  And the Archie, Betty, and Ron heads in the background seem kind of out of place and weird there.

I guess giving him a black husband and having him married in his military uniform is pretty gutsy, but I think I would've preferred a kiss on the cover or something.  Seems like they consider a guy/guy (or a girl/girl) kiss on a cover to still be too dicey to do.  There should be one inside I'm assuming though.  But yeah, over all, I'm still pretty happy Archie is recognizing homosexuality now.

I wonder what the faces of the characters in the background would have looked like, say 20 years ago ?

Probably would be a moot point, as back in '92, I doubt a story like this would have come about...

...I still have yet to get this book (the store where I get it doesn't switch out their mags until Monday), but it is on my to-buy list.

I don't think they would have done a story like this in 2007 honestly.

Just being honest.  The art and character designs are good, not where I'm making my critique.  It's just the placement of things isn't designed well.  It doesn't give off a wedding vibe very well.  Compare this to the Veronica/Archie wedding cover by Stan Goldberg, which did that very well.  I understand this is a magazine cover and not a comic cover, but still think it could have had more impact.

Wait. #16? I had to back-order #14 along with getting my year-long sub. If #16 did indeed come out on the 4th, then I wonder if I'll have to back-order #15 as well. Is it available from Archie Comics individually as #14 was?

Regarding the article, it's interesting that it portrays Kevin as an Iraqi war vet, but that war is now over, so the Kevin in "normal continuity" will never experience that.

Betty Cooper + Cheryl Blossom. It's inevitable.

It's probably a consequence of them writing all this stuff so early I guess.  Thank god the war didn't last that long.  I guess this can just be easily written off as part of the alternate continuity timeline.

Maybe it's like M.A.S.H. where the show went on long after the war. :)

And I like the cover. I think it's well drawn and tasteful. Lack of Reggie, but I'm used to that. Poor guy. :(

I think it's a subliminal message that everyone better be paired up or you don't belong in the honey-warm fairyland of Riverdale anymore.

And BTW, I think Kevin's mother looks about the same age as him, too!  :o

Kevin's Mom IS about the hottest older woman in Riverdale in his own book, too- she's just packing REALLY good genetics!

I agree that its disappointing you cannot tell its a wedding just by looking at the picture. Also the grooms are standing rather far apart.

Too bad Kevin wouldn't be able to pass on his magical genes that promises eternal youth and perfect looks with his brand-new husband. XD

Well going by what Archie Comics is doing nowadays, I wouldn't be surprised if he undergoes sex change in the future or someone asks him to be the father of their child by surrogate means. :P

And of course, there's human cloning too.
