Archie Marries blah, blah, blah...
« on: February 07, 2012, 10:14:10 AM »
If Archie Comics is going to keep doing marriage stories then this is what I'd like to see in the near future:

Reggie Marries Reggie (in a dream sequence)

Sabrina Marries Dilton (magic and science clash... imagine the story possibilities)

Jughead Marries Trula (why not?)

...any other suggestions?

Jughead Marries Betty ( Yeah, I know, will never happen officially )

Reggie Marries Betty/Ron/Sabrina/Cheryl/Midge/Josie/Valerie/Melody

Weatherbee Marries Grundy

Svenson Marries Beazly ( I guess these two already happened )

But since it's Archie's universe :

Archie Marries Kevin ( quite possible )

Flutesnoot Marries Sabrina ( Why not ? Science and Magic again )

Moose Marries Betty/Ron ( Think About it ! )

Dilton Marries Ron

And in a 'darker' universe :

Mr. Cooper Marries Ron/Mrs. Andrews/Mrs. Lodge

If you grade the dads, Mr. Cooper would come in at No. 2 in looks after Mr. Lodge.

Smithers Marries Betty

Jellybean ........

Ok, I am getting carried away here.  :uglystupid2:

Jughead Marries Betty
Archie Marries Midge
Archie Marries Josie
Reggie Marries Melody
Reggie Marries Midge
Dilton Marries Betty
Reggie Marries Sabrina
Dilton Marries Sabrina

There are too many possibilities to do them all but would be interesting to see some of these.

Let number of men be M, number of women W

Total number of pairings = MW

Each storyline has atleast 3 episodes/chapters, giving a total of 3MW issues.

Which means for 10 men and 10 women, Archie comics has enough stuff for at least 300 issues.

Pretty Good business :)

Can't we just have someone in Riverdale NOT marry anyone?

It just goes to show that what was once hailed as revolutionary storylines ( Arvchie Marries Betty / Veronica ) were only the tip of the iceberg of the soap opera which Archie Comics is now rolling out. Just goes to prove my point that it was a great marketing gimmick all along.

Which brings me to Kevin, considering that he has found a great following, how soon till Riverdale gets it's first Lesbian or transgender or both ? Pandering to political correctness and inclusiveness is good business in this age.

It's not pandering to political correctness.  The politically motivated thing to do would be to have no gay characters in anything, which is what most cowardly companies do.  Not a big fan of this point of view.  In the reality I live in, gay characters weren't allowed to exist in most things until like a few years ago and still it's extremely limited to like a hand full of things.  Have you ever watched LOGO?  They have like zero programming to work with.

There's a reason why you probably have 800,000 or whatever comics with straight characters and like a hand full of gay/lesbian/etc. characters.  It's because the topic was blackballed by the industry.  And then when we do get like 2 comics out of the few hundred in print, it's because of "political correctness."  Give me a break.

The weird thing is I'm left wondering if that's even genetically possible.  Isn't red hair a recessive gene?  So don't you need it from both parents?  I don't know Valerie's family tree, but it seems a bit unlikely she would be carrying that gene.

As far as the weddings go, seems like the profit motive certainly comes in here.  But that's fine with me.  I mean there's like thousands of throw away Archie stories, so why not a few where something interesting actually happens?

Although, over all, I haven't cared about any of the ones that happened so far that much, because I don't ship the characters I guess.
