Archie Comics Collector(Kalell)

Archie Comics Double Digest #269
-Released June 2016
-A very memorable Comics Double Digest to collect and treasure as it contains the very last new story drawn by the great Archie artist Fernando Ruiz!

Archie in Happiness is a clean Pup-The last new story drawn by Fernando Ruiz to appear in a Digest-June 2016
-The first page of a six page new story
-This is the very last story he drew for Archie Comics and appears in Archie Comics Double Digest #269
-Look at all the details and artistic talent as always demonstrated by the one and only Fernando Ruiz!
-A true Archie artist master in every sense and a legacy that will never be forgotten!
-On this very page you can see the extra details that Fernando draws in his art, such as the fish coming out of the tub of soap and water. I always try to find these little gems in each of the stories that he has drawn!

Archie Vs Predator-The last mini series drawn by Fernando Ruiz for Archie Comics in 2015!
-This is the collected Hardcover edition of the four issue mini series, Archie Vs Predator and is the last major mini series that Fernando Ruiz drew in collaboration with Dark horse for Archie Comics in 2015.

Fernando Ruiz and the last story he drew for Archie Comics
Just received Archie Comics Digest#269 and I read the very last new story drawn by the very talented Fernando Ruiz. The story is called, "Happiness is a clean Pup" Its very funny and very well drawn. I admire and appreciate all the extra little details Fernando always puts in his art, such as in this story: a fish coming out of a tub of  water, a monster in the sewers, a bird on someone's head. If this is his last story for Archie then Fernando ends his Archie career with a very memorable story that is a true Archie classic. I laughed very much throughout reading the story and its one I will never forget. Its a very interesting and well drawn story that involves Archie starting a dog washing business with Jughead. It is very funny, memorable and definitely classic Archie as he gets in one mess after another. The ending definitely will have you laughing out loud as to what happens from this new business venture of Archie and Jughead. Will it succeed or not? Read it and find out. 4.5 out of 5 stars!

Its unfortunate to see this is his last drawn story for Archie but just like Stan Goldberg, Harry Lucey, Rex Lindsey and Dan Parent, Fernando is one of the very few great Archie artists that embodies the best of Archie comics. This thread is a tribute to your many years of exemplary stories with Archie, the masterful Archie vs Predator and so many other great Archie stories. Your work will be remembered in graphic novels and digests for many years to come! Thanks for everything Fernando Ruiz! Fernando Ruiz is definitely one of the great master Archie artists and his legacy will never be forgotten!

The Triumphant Return of Archie Comics Collector!!  :D  I missed you and your reviews.

Also Fernando said something about how he had ghost written (used another name?) some stories for ACP after this one so we may see those eventually.

Fernando Ruiz

Thanks for the very kind words, Archie Comics Collector.

I'm genuinely touched by this very nice tribute.

I ghost-wrote those scripts for another Archie comics writer-artist. It shouldn't be too hard to figure out who that is! I think they might be close to coming out very soon.

Archie Comics, of course, now hates me because unlike Dan DeCarlo and Stan Goldberg, after they drove me out, I didn't conveniently drop dead. In a very petty move, they said I could no longer ghost-write for them anymore.

They have a horrible, horrible reputation for their treatment of their talent. Trust me. Every bit of it is deserved.

I have been around but not posting much. Some great digests have been released. Its just that I have been so busy in the last few months but its almost summer and I have more time now. I just had to set some time aside for a tribute to Fernando Ruiz and all he did for Archie comics!

Definitely my pleasure and honor to be able to pay tribute to one of the elite Archie artists of the modern era!

As I continue my tribute of great Archie stories drawn by Fernando Ruiz. Here are the covers of a two part story in which Archie plays Robin Hood. This two part story was recently reprinted in Archie's Funhouse Comics Annual #19 and Archie's Funhouse Jumbo Comics Digest #20. If any of you can think of other great Archie stories drawn by Fernando Ruiz to add to this tribute thread post pics and comments. I will comment on this two parter after I have read it.

There were quite a few of them, back around the same time as "Robbing Arch of Riverwood Forest". "King of the Lost Land", "The Man From R.I.V.E.R.D.A.L.E.", "Night At the Comic Shop", among the mult-parters; and lots of good shorts in TALES FROM RIVERDALE DIGEST and JUGHEAD & FRIENDS DIGEST.

I just finished the two part story in which Archie plays Robbing Arch. Very well drawn throughout. The story could have been better in a few areas especially the ending so 4 out of 5 stars overall. Now I will be working on the two part story King of the Lost Land drawn by Fernando where Archie and the others face dinosaurs.

I just bought a subscription to Archie Unlimited and I will able to see more of Fernando Ruiz's awesome art.I have the print copies but I have to dig then out of storage. Digital comics can be so convenient at times like this.

Wow, that sucks. I figured Mark Waid was right when he said that Archie mistreated everybody (his specific complaint was that they paid people very little while sucking up all of the profits of the company for themselves)... but he neglected to mention that they're STILL doing it.

We still totally need Archie Comics: The Untold Story- a huge collection of the history of the company, written by a third party and taking viewpoints from EVERYBODY. Alas, so many of the old names are deceased at this point. But it'd still be more accurate than that one from a couple years ago, where the company's co-founder was apparently a giant ladies' man who ALWAYS had two girls fighting over him, just so that he could lay a claim over Bob Montana's :) .

I can see an Archie Comics lawsuit if someone ever did attempt to write this. They're VERY protective of their reputation...

Jabroniville is referencing a fairly recent (2013) warts-and-all (totally unauthorized) company history, MARVEL COMICS: THE UNTOLD STORY by Sean Howe. An excellent book, by the way, that gives us more of an unvarnished picture of events in that company's history. While there are laws written to prevent slander and libel, there are none preventing people from telling the truth. If the Disney/Marvel legal department couldn't stop Sean Howe from writing a book, what do you think ACP's chances would be?

Of course, Marvel & Disney are unlikely to want the bad publicity associated with going after a piece of journalism. ACP seems to have no such restrictions holding them back- they have a tendency to go after people who merely PARODY them.

I think their lawyers would probably advise them to pass, if they have no legal grounds (as in the case of Sean Howe's book). The sort of publicity associated with a lawsuit tends to shine a spotlight on the defendant's book, which if legally blameless, only gets more attention from more people, and more attendant sales. So they would, in fact, be doing the book's author a big favor. Lawsuits cost money too, and ACP isn't doing so well that they can afford to pursue harassing someone when they have no chance of winning. They could recoup their legal expenses if they could win such a suit, but unless there is actual slander or libelous statements contained in the book (and most authors, or publishers, of these type of "tell-all" books have them legally vetted before publication), ACP would only wind up throwing money in a sinkhole.
