Jughead cancelled???
« on: September 16, 2012, 11:34:06 AM »
I was on the Archie website today and noticed that Jughead subscriptions are no longer offered. I then looked in my Archie Double Digest that I got Wednesday and noticed that Jughead isn't on that subscription page either! Has anybody heard about this title being cancelled? Wouldn't surprise me since the cancellation of Betty and Archie & Friends and the fact that it now features traditional humor stories rather than bolder storylines. Kinda bummed that Betty & Veronica, a title that mirrors Jughead's run, lasted longer...  :'(

Maybe Jughead's Title wasn't as popular as Kevin's? perhaps they just want to promote Kevin Keller more than they do Jughead Jones

First, I wouldn't jump to conclusions about anything being canceled.  I think things have disappeared from the subscription page and then came back.  Said titles were canceled later on, but they came back first.  I'd wait for some more kind of confirmation.

And if it's canceled I doubt it has anything to do with anything other than sales.  If Kevin's stays, it's because he sells better.  I don't really see any other argument that makes sense.  Kevin gets multiple covers and stuff.  They wouldn't bother with that if they weren't moving copies.

Can we get an official source saying it's canceled? i mean DC Comics no longer allows you to subscribe to titles like animal man justice league dark swamp thing batwoman but that doesn't mean those titles are canceled

I don't think Archie does that.  I think they either have it up for subscription or cancel it (am I wrong, because I don't think I am).  I don't think Archie makes as much comic book store sales as DC does, although I would imagine they have made more in the past couple of years since Archie has gotten more attention lately, but that's probably not every title.

My opinion, if people that have subscriptions get a letter saying their remaining issues will be switched over to a different title, it probably means it's going to get canceled.  Having it removed from the website page could be some kind of logistical thing other than it being canceled.  Although, I can't think of any reasons why off the top of my head.

I haven't heard anything, but Jughead's sales are the weakest of the company's (ever shrinking) floppies. It would be a shame if it disappears. Jughead has had his own solo title since 1949.

Betty and Veronica has consistently been one of the company's top two sellers (along with Archie) for decades.

If the Jughead title do ended (on a sour note) with no explanation then it will be a Big Fat Blow to the once loved company who been in turmoil from the start of the early 2010's and everyone and everybody will Not be any similes everyday will see is a bitter disappointment and the big winners will their is no big winners just big disappointment not just on the Archie Comics Company but on Everybody in the Planet.

My advice to the company drop the very big priced Double Digests with stories from the existing title that currently cancelled for some other titles to try to fleshing up sales on the replacement titles that will one day just One Damn Day will backfire not only on the comic book company but On All the Hard Working Cartoonist out their in the Real World because guess what one day One Kid, One Teen and One Archie Comic Book Fan out their will realize that they can not and will not buy a (and This is Dead Serious) $4.49 plus tax on a Double Digest Book and If and a Big Fat If it does Cancelled on a Sour Note then you all going to see all of the Adventure Archie Comic Book Titles that replace Archie, Betty & Veronica and Jughead plus all of the fun Archie Comic Titles that came out in book stores that just Disappeared Gone Forever Only to have the fresh New Archie Comic Titles with No Archie, No Betty & Veronica and No Jughead Only to have the New Titles and the New Characters to Fail Miserable from the Beginning Not only by the readers buy by sales as well Now Think About That for Years to Come at your Dubious Decision.

As Biollante said, this isn't official...yet. Subscriptions have disappeared and reappeared, but the title wasn't even available on the printed sub. page in my digest. Maybe someone can send Archie Comics an e-mail and ask them what's up. I also think that the title may have been canceled to make room for the Archie Comics Super Special magazine coming out in a few months.

I don't think Archie does that. I never got a letter, and my sub to Betty wasn't switched to Betty and Veronica (meaning that was one very expensive Betty #195 for me).

Betty Cooper + Cheryl Blossom. It's inevitable.

it's just awkward that there won't be A Jughead Title now but A Kevin Keller Title just how did Jughead sink so fast and how did Kevin Keller Take Jughead's place?

i can see looking at the current jug head issues that it wasn't any better than reading a jug head double digest  the solicits didn't really stand out to me and made me think they weren't trying

that seems like overreacting to me...even if this does mean Jughead's title is canceled it doesn't mean the archie world is doomed and the classic archie characters will be retired for new characters

it's a matter of sales  this title probably didn't sell enough copies to stay alive so it got canned but that does not mean Archie comics is doom and all their titles will slowly fade away replaced by new titles with never before seen characters it's just  low sales numbers and since not many people can find the archie floppies in this day and age(Outside of Life with archie)it's no wonder Jughead had such low sales

that isnt surprising. usually when im in the comics stand the ones that get passerbys attention to browse have typically been B&V and the demographics are girls.

like i said before, I think digests and graphic novels will gradually replace floppies for economic reasons UNLESS the floppies/magazines stand out as in the case of LWA, KK, B&V and Archie.
