  • Steveinthecity: When Thor pulls the hammer back to throw, his momentum stops. He has always been able to float or hover once airborne, and he'll remain until the hammer comes back to him.  I guess the winds keep him aloft.

  • Jabroniville: Yeah, that's odd- Thor usually has the Hammer out in front. Though I don't think it's ever explained how he can throw it while in mid-flight and not just plummet like a goof. I wish artists would stop having him do things like that :)

  • Steveinthecity: @Biolante:  Thor uses the hammer to fly. He can throw his hammer during flight and float in one spot until the hammer returns to him. Don't know what Joe Q. was thinking there. I've never seen Thor fly on his own.

If anyone is interested in joining - please do!  Also - tell your friends.  It's the Web 2.0 way to let Archie know that we like their comics and want to see their innovation continue with titles such as B&V Spectacular.
No matter where I go, there I am.  Creepy.

Good on ya!  (an Australian term)

I've cross-posted on Newsarama and cbgxtra forums to try and get some folks signing up from there as well.

The group is picking-up some steam!  It's at 10 members, but that's pretty good for the amount of time it has been active.

We're up to 16 members on the Facebook group.  That's pretty good I think.  Considering that it's only been around a few days.

If 16 people are passionate enough to join the Facebook group - how many more care about the title, but are just being silent?

I guess sales is the ultimate measure of success in business - and we have to respect that, but I really wonder if a dozen or so issues might still be worth doing - at least until #100.

I signed up and see that there are 24 people who have joined the group (myself included) so, that's definitely encouraging!

I've made a few more cross-postings and people are saying some very nice things over in the CGC forums about our friend Dan Parent.  Both as a person and an artist.  It seems his appearances at conventions are much appreciated by those fortunate enough to attend!

Oooo!  Things are heating up!  The group has gotten about 11 new members in less than 2 hours!  Keep letting your friends know and post in the other forums that you frequent.

I hope that Archie Comics may decide to let us get at least to issue #100 with this series.

Here's the deal as I see it.

Every comic artist has a path of evolution.  In many cases, an artist will work with and learn a style of art from one of the greats.  There are many artists that used Ditko, Kirby, and Adams as folks to admire and then "came into their own" over time.

When we look at the greats such as Carl Barks and Walt Kelly, we can see the Rosa's and Jeff Smith's of today working from a common starting point and evolving their skills and the community forward. Don't even get me started on Eisner.

Why does this come up here?  I think the current group of Archie artists has the potential to take Archie Comics (and us fans) somewhere very special in comics history.

B&V Spectacular is a book that shows an artist evolving.  Some may not enjoy the style as much (hello TM), but many do.  Take B&V Spectacular #69 to present and place them end-to-end.  Notice something?  I notice an artist becoming a true "voice" in the medium.  So - jumping-up-and-down fanboy aside :)  I think this title is good for Archie Comics.

It's different in a good way.

Whenever I see it on the newsstand - it's always well-thumbed.  Sadly, sales would be better if the copies weren't damaged by so many people looking at them!

They should do the next issues with a trading card in them and shrink-wrap them to prevent "newsstand readers" from messing them up.  Then we'd see sales increase!

I honestly don't know that any of the people I know (besides the fine folks here!) read Archie comics. Shame too, really. :(
