  • Jabroniville: Yeah, that's odd- Thor usually has the Hammer out in front. Though I don't think it's ever explained how he can throw it while in mid-flight and not just plummet like a goof. I wish artists would stop having him do things like that :)

  • Steveinthecity: @Biolante:  Thor uses the hammer to fly. He can throw his hammer during flight and float in one spot until the hammer returns to him. Don't know what Joe Q. was thinking there. I've never seen Thor fly on his own.

I recall a Little Archie story where the dialogue and art were altered to suggest two hunters had mistakenly trapped his dog Spotty instead of shooting him, which was the original story. The alterations in the art especially were obvious.

What original Little Archie comic book (not digest) originally had that story in its original form? I guess it was a Thanksgiving related story...

Thought I would bump this thread, do you remember this circa 1970's 1 page Lil Jinx story, this is xeroxed from a 2006 Archie digest with alterations in wording in the last 2 panels, anyone know the original wording

UPDATE: I think Josie and the Pussycats #94 has that 1 page Lil Jinx story but it might have been origtinally called "One For The Record!"

I would assume she's looking for a record, and the last panel is probably a lame pun about it.
I have so many Archies, I've lost count!  :D

I remember in Betty and Veronica DD no. 106....

3 or 4 consecutive stories had some of their dialogues altered to insert "Wacky Wear Week"

seems like the editors want to portray that those stories happened at the approximately the same duration.

More things: This is below taken from 2002 and 2007 B&V Double Digests. The Archie/Mr. Lodge story "The Visitor" (I think). The last word was originally The Beatles in the 1960's original but the world was replaced in the 2002 and 2007 reprints by NSYNC.
If this was to be reprinted today in 2012, since NSYNC is defunct something current like Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, or Katy Perry, would be the name.

I saw a copy of B&V DD #106 but couldn't find the alterations.

I don't know which Little Archie comic it was in. I saw both versions in digests.

In "The Kiss-Off" from Betty and Veronica Annual #8 (1960), Mr. Weatherbee says "Professor Flutesnoot has been sniffing too many chemicals".  It was altered when it was reprinted in Archie Digest #41.  However, I don't have a copy of that issue, so I don't know what it was changed to.

Here's an egregious example of before and after.

Before:
"decarlo1"

A cute gag that can be found in Craig Yoe's excellent Archie history HC.

After(that is, after DeCarlo unsuccessfully sued Archie over the rights to Josie and lost his job in the process):

"decarlo2"

Every time I see that second panel, I hear the replaced dialogue delivered in a flat monotone, like the Simpsons episode where Poochie went to his home planet and his cel was lifted out of the picture.

I hope it is reprinted someday with mention of a current Archie comics artist - maybe Dan Parent!

A "Little Archie" story from the late 1970s featured tiny aliens in spaceships that looked like peanuts.  At the end one of them says that Little Archie gave them a picture of his leader: former peanut farmer Jimmy Carter.  When the story was reprinted a few years later, the picture was changed to President "Regan" (spelling error and all), which rendered all the peanut-related gags completely pointless.

An early-to-mid-60s story featured the "cockamamie box," where all the items confiscated from students through the year are stored.  When it appeared in a digest in the eighties, a Beatle wig was renamed a "punk" wig, and the names of long-forgotten teen idols were replaced with "Boy George and Madonna."

Would the "cockamamie box" story be reprinted again to make the "Beatle Wig" and teen idols both to be renamed and leaned toward Justin Beieber if it ever gets reprinted in a digest again?

I also like to see the late 1970's Little Archie meets the alien peanuts story reprinted but include a pic of current President Obama in the story.

Here's another story alteration comparison I found that was from a 1960's Jughead comic later reprinted in World of Jughead that same decade (long before the digests where reprints would end up existed), notice in the original and reprint Veronica has different hairstyles and in the later a shorter dress?
