  • Jabroniville: Yeah, that's odd- Thor usually has the Hammer out in front. Though I don't think it's ever explained how he can throw it while in mid-flight and not just plummet like a goof. I wish artists would stop having him do things like that :)

  • Steveinthecity: @Biolante:  Thor uses the hammer to fly. He can throw his hammer during flight and float in one spot until the hammer returns to him. Don't know what Joe Q. was thinking there. I've never seen Thor fly on his own.

Same reason they do it in shounen anime I guess.  It panders to the fantasies of the pathetic male audience.  LOL.
Exactly!
The boys chase the rich glamorous girl much more than the nice down to earth girl, which is how it mostly happens in real life. Those writers probably thought they just need to cater to the male audience.

Well, I think Veronica is way too good for Archie.  It's more like how someone so average and even a bit ugly/awkward can have every girl in the world wanting to get with him.  It's definitely this prototype male fantasy that appears in a lot of stuff geared at a younger audience.  Like anime, all that harem anime is aimed at teens I think.

The only good thing that comes out of it I think is interesting plot lines where Betty and Veronica have conflict which helps develop their characters and relationship with each other.  Like most stuff with multiple girls orbiting the same guy, it's the female characters that are actually the more interesting and compelling characters.

While that's true, i think Archie and Veronica could be good for each other. Veronica has this whole rich bitch, super snobbish, materialistic thing going on, and she ditches Archie sometimes for shinier, wealthier dates, but Archie is still her number one guy! She could have any of those rich kids, but she keeps coming back to the dorky, clumsy, middle-class Archie Andrews. This shows that Archie does bring out some good in Ronnie. As for Archie, being with Ronnie would keep him in line; she would never let him treat her like a doormat. When Veronica is before him, Archie is too busy with her to go do his two-timing.
And on a different note, those two deserve each other :D

I think Veronica is a good person, but she just needs someone that can keep her grounded.  Personally, I think Archie is a shallow, smooth operating con-artist that uses people to fuel his own ego, so I don't think it's him.  You're right about him going more for Veroncia, but it's obviously for the most shallow base-line reasons (Veronica is rich, Veronica is a challenge, etc.), which makes their romance equally shallow and meaningless.

So yeah, for Veroncia's soul mate, I go with the actual real good heated person in this little triangle, Betty.  Betty would keep her grounded to protect her from own second nature and is actually so good natured that she would totally mean it.  Just their friendship in the comic I think is a lot deeper than probably any other relationship in the Archie-verse.  As bad as Veronica treats her in their little tug of war over the unlikely ginger playboy, Betty is always there when Veronica needs her despite it all.

Yeeeah, poor old Betty will keep being there for ppl who are hardly ever there for her when SHE needs the support or comfort! Hell, for those ppl who are actually the reason she needs comfort in the first place!
When will Betty ever grow a spine and be done with just being what such ppl need her to be? What about something or someone BETTY needs for a change?
However, at the end of my rant, i need to say, i don't Hate Veronica, she is great the way she is :D A very entertaining character indeed.

Veronica has a good side, she occasionally does extremely nice things especially for Betty.  Not all the time, but she's there when needed.

You're right about Veornica possibly having the ability to keep Archie "whipped" to the point he doesn't mess around on her.  But then again, she shoudln't have to do that in the place.  I understand "playing the field," but he can't even stay focused when he's on a date with Veronica half the time.  Archie is a self-centered hedonist in a nice guy package.  He's like Jughead except he doesn't crave food.  If Veronica didn't treat him the way she does, he would completely take advantage of her in every way I think.

The dynamic with Betty would be completely different because Veronica can trust her I think.  She wouldn't have to have her guard up, so it would be a much more loving relationship.  Just my opinion.  XD  The only reason why there is conflict between them is because of Archie.  Although, it can be said that maybe they both partake in the tug of war over him as a subconscious excuse for being closer to each other.

while thats true, neither Archie nor Veronica are faithful to each other, so its kinda well deserved. And btw, i do think Ronnie and Archie would be perfect to live in BDSM style; she keeps him 'whipped' and on a leash, but he still fools around, so she punishes him...lol

XD  The only reason why there is conflict between them is because of Archie.
my observation is, Veronica has always tried to prove herself far better than Betty, and tried to humiliate he; has been jealous of her every little success. She seems to be one of those, who uses her friends to show herself more appealing/attractive etc by comparison. Can't agree that its only about Archie.

I would so smooche Dilton under the Mistletoe. He's just flat-out adorable.  :-*

Ultimately, I just think Archie is jerk who uses Betty and Veronica to boost his ego, because deep down he's just insecure. Betty needs to grow a spine and tell Andrews like it is. Veronica just needs to blacken his other eye. (Reference to a recent comic strip where Veronica punched Archie for canceling their date). Betty and Veronica could both do so much better.
