I have to be careful though...I have a cat who likes to jump into my arms when I'm using the bathroom. But I have yet to drop an Archie Digest into the toilet.
MJB

Um...I have.

And, I rushed out to the store to buy a replacement copy immediately after. 2funny

Oh No! How embarassing! But then the real question is: Do you try to dry it out on the shower curtain rod, or just drop it into the wastebasket? I guess it depends on what exactly was IN the toilet when the digest took the plunge.

That's very funny since I also have a cat who loves to do that, and she's a bit on the fat side so I have to be ready if she's going to jump.

LOL! Mine is male, but kind of tubby as well. And he is so used to me always catching him , that he now just dashes in, jumps on the counter and LEAPS into my arms all in one big blure! He is so trusting that he does not even wait to make sure I am ready to catch him, so I make sure I am always ready whenever I go in there!  And he could knock me down easily if I was not prepared.

My cat doesn't like to jump on me - she just likes to either follow me into the bathroom or sit outside the door meowling pitifully and pawing at the door until I come out...
What a modest fellow you are...I never close the door. But it's just me and the wife so no one cares.

LOL! I think you folks who DO NOT take comics into the bathroom are the weird ones! There is always a big stack of comics, books, magazines, etc. etc. in BOTH of my bathrooms. Of course the wife complains about that fact from time to time, but HEY Hon! Get over it! You're not going to change me after 21 years of marriage.

I go into my bathroom to dispose of bodily waste, not to read. Tongue

Hehe, you sound like me. Years ago (early 2000s), my sister and her kids were visiting. We were playing "Mortal Kombat Trilogy" on my PlayStation. My 1-year-old niece opened it and tore the disc in half. I immediately went out to the mall to get a replacement copy. My sis decided to take her kids and come along. I didn't find it on that day, so I got "Castlevania: Chronicles" to compensate myself and make myself feel a bit better.

I got a copy of "Mortal Kombat Trilogy" soon after. Ironically, since I'd already beaten it, it remains in its original wrapping to this day! Tongue

It was kind of weird.  I had set it on the edge of the tank while I was brushing my teeth before bed, and somehow, I brushed up against the book, and...sploosh.

And, it couldn't be salvaged...once a book gets wet, it wrinkles up and the pages get stuck together.  Not good.

...I go in to READ first, and then do that other thing you mentioned as well...

Well, with all our cats, my wife insists that we keep the lid closed at all times, when not in use. So maybe that has saved my books and comics from ever taking the plunge.

Ah, so many new things in common! 2funny I've got digests in a bookshelf in the bedroom, as well as in a shoebox, in a drawer in the bathroom (but, I get sick often, so, my reading tends to be done from the floor, not the throne), by my computer on the other side of the house, one or two in my messenger bag and a few more in each car. Fortunately, the only ones I've got that are water damaged got that way years ago from being loaned out to the neighbors when I was younger.

As for the lack of solitude when it comes to the cats (we've got 3), I think cats are phobic when it comes to closed doors or something. As far as risk of dropping a comic into the commode, all the lids are kept closed since we've had a few incidents where a cat has jumped into the toilet by accident. Funny, but, not fun when they freak out and fling water through the entire house!

I have one who accidentally jumped up on the gas range when one of the burners was lit! He got singed, and raced through the house leaving a smokey contrail behind him. He was OKAY, just scared. Pretty funny now.

I don't think any of our cats have ever fallen into the toilet. They have been known to fall off of things before, then look at you like "I meant to do that!".

Oldiesmann - I don't get that kind of look if they're being klutzy. Instead, I get glaring accusation! "How dare you imply that I didn't mean to do that!?" 2funny

Oh, and for anyone who hasn't seen it already, and likes - or dislikes - cats, I highly suggest this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4sKqxtD-9JQ - The Jaws theme works rather well, imo. Smiley
