Forum Upgrade
« on: March 18, 2010, 03:11:50 AM »
The forum has been upgraded to the new version.

Unfortunately, the default orange theme we've been using is a tad broken at the moment (it works, but some things don't work very well and it doesn't look very pretty), so until I have time to fix it (or find someone to fix it), I've switched the site to the default theme. This will allow everyone to continue enjoying the features without having to deal with a broken theme.

It is now a little after 3am where I'm at, so I'm going to bed. Because of the theme problems, I didn't get everything re-installed, but I will continue to work on things tomorrow.

Things I still need to do (besides getting the theme fixed):
Re-install the arcade
Re-install the gallery integration (random images work, but other Gallery-related features don't)
Add the ultimate profile
Add the toolbar to the default theme we're using at the moment

Hopefully the theme will be fixed soon so we can go back to enjoying it. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause :)

I haven't added the code for the gallery yet. I was too busy working on the theme last night. It should be back in a bit.

The previous default theme will be back shortly as well. I contacted the person who made it and got an upgraded version of it :)

The site looks kinda wonky right now on my settings.  Hope it's just temporary.

Make sure you're using the "Curve" theme and not "Asude". The "Asude" theme (the orange one) is still broken (even after the theme author said it should work with the new version :().

Just a quick update. I've solved the theme problems. I'm not sure what exactly the issue was, but copying the default theme and making the changes (as the theme author told me to do) rather than overwriting the existing files with the new ones seems to work, so I should have the old theme back up shortly.

The gallery will have to wait until tonight as I have to leave for work in about 20 minutes.

Thanks for the tip...it works just fine now.  :)

Theme issue should be mostly fixed now. If you don't see the orange one, go to your profile and set your theme to either "Forum or Board Default" or "Asude RC3".

If you choose "Forum or Board Default", your theme will be set to whatever I choose for the forum default (which isn't likely to change for a while). If you choose "Asude RC3", that will always be your theme even if I change the forum default.

Here's what's left on the "upgrade to do" list:
Fix link colors (currently links are blue instead of orange)
Fix the background color on longer dropdown menus (shouldn't really affect you though)
Re-install the Arcade, Gallery integration, Shop and Toolbar
Install and configure the Ultimate Profile addon

Sorry for all the problems. Things should be back to normal within the next 10-12 hours.

Quick update on this...

Toolbar has been reinstalled. You can now disable it from your profile if you don't want it (look for the "Wibiya" option in Look and Layout)
Arcade and shop have been reinstalled
Ultimate profile has been installed but it isn't enabled yet

New addon has been installed that lets you reply from the quick reply box without reloading the page (note that this only works if you reply from the last page of a topic).

I still have to fix the link colors, which I will do after I fix the gallery stuff :)

Gallery is back up and running.

Still on my to do list for tomorrow:
Configure Ultimate Profile and get that going
Fix the Gallery Image and Spell Check buttons to make them match the other two
Finish up any remaining theme-related tweaks

Thanks for all your patience during this time :)

Ultimate profile is now live. I've enabled all options (including profile customization).

You can upload 1 photo to your profile, and it can be up to 640px wide (not sure if larger ones are rejected or just resized).

You may also add embedded audio, Youtube videos, etc. in the media box - just copy and paste the code from the site for the item you want to embed.

As this is a family-friendly site, I ask that you keep all content at "PG" level or lower - I will remove anything I deem inappropriate for this site.

If you have any questions, just ask. Enjoy!

The problem that was causing board descriptions to be displayed in bold text has been fixed. It was an issue with the addon I'm using to post stuff to Twitter.

I will fix the "ugly" buttons and the link color later today.

Still need to work on the Wiki, and am debating about whether or not to do the Facebook integration thing.
