You're welcome :)

For the superhero stuff, check out The Secret Origins of Archie as Captain Pureheart. A nice 5-part series of articles on everyone's favorite red-headed superhero :)

Also, after re-reading that blog, it appears that the R.I.V.E.R.D.A.L.E. stuff started with LWA #49, not issue 48 as I stated above.

I don't have complete details on all the issues that the superhero stories appeared in as those stories were spread out across numerous titles and not confined to a single title like the R.I.V.E.R.D.A.L.E. stories were.

I also have several of the superhero issues though - various issues of Life With Archie, the "Superhero Special", Little Archie #40 (featuring "Little Pureheart") and a few issues each of the individual titles featuring Pureheart and Captain Hero.

Ooh, good article. I think I came across the first page of this, but I hadn't read the other pages.

I know Betty and Me #3 has the origin of Super-Teen, which is pretty funny.

Excuse me, does anybody remember the date of Chuck Clayton first appearance? In Wiki there is only approximate date!

This is something I'd like to know as well Fonzeppelin. Wikipedia lists his first appearance as "Pep Comics #? (287-296) 1974"

All I can confirm is that it is NOT #287 or 288.

Anybody out there have Archie Pals N' Gals #23?

Confused because having picked up the Josie and The Pussycats TPB, it says that Josie and Melody first appear in an 8 page story in She's Josie #1.

However Wikipedia and an article about Dan DeCarlo in a Comic Magazine (title escapes me at the moment) both say Archie Pals N' Gals #23 is the 1st time Josie appears (unless the article writer just cribbed his research from wiki).

I have Pals 'n' Gals #23.  There's a Josie story in it.

She's Josie #1 is dated Feb. 1963 and Pals 'n' Gals #23 is dated Winter 1962-63 with a copyright date of 1962.

Thanks RiverPhoenixDale!!!! Would Melody and Alexander Cabot also happen to be in the
Pals 'n' Gals #23 story?

Would the title of the story happen to be titled "A Gym Dandy" or is that exclusive to She's Josie #1?

The story in Pals #23 is called "Tongue Twister."  Melody is in it, but Alexander Cabot isn't!  The story is actually about Melody and her trouble learning Spanish.  Josie and Pepper help her out.

Ah, interesting, so the Best of Josie and The Pussycats TPB from 2001 is actually the material in error.

Thanks for clearing that up for me. Very much appreciated.

Ambrose (Archie's TV Laugh Out #1???)
Harvey Kinkle (Archie's TV Laugh Out #1???)

This is the earliest I've seen these two in Sabrina books.

Didn't notice them in Archie's Madhouse.

Can anyone  confirm these as first appearances for me?
