  • Jabroniville: Yeah, that's odd- Thor usually has the Hammer out in front. Though I don't think it's ever explained how he can throw it while in mid-flight and not just plummet like a goof. I wish artists would stop having him do things like that :)

Cheryl Blossom VS. Ginger Lopez
« on: May 20, 2011, 06:58:11 PM »
Who's better: Cheryl Blossom or Ginger Lopez?

I ask that since Cheryl was transformed to Ginger in 2000-2001 Archie digest reprint stories.

I'm still a little mystified as to the story with Ginger... when Archie got rid of Cheryl (did the experiment backlash? they were practically forcing Cheryl on everybody for five years and then all of a sudden she was gone and moved away), why did they put in Ginger? Just to ignore that Cheryl existed?

Honestly, given those two choices, I prefer Cheryl, just because she had more of a personality.  Ginger Lopez as Cheryl was just ridiculous, and Ginger as a stand-alone character was kind of flat.

I just prefer Cheryl because she's a redhead.

The stories where they recolored Cheryl into Ginger only make me dislike Ginger more.

Agreed. I really don't see why Ginger is the current "it girl" (seriously, she appears on a lot of B&V fashion pages). Her "thing" is she's a teenzine owner, but I'd rather read "Fresh" than "Sparkle" any day. Cheryl gets my money. :P

Agreed.

Betty Cooper + Cheryl Blossom. It's inevitable.

Ginger has certainly been wasted as a character up to this point .  As a teen mag editor, she should be the Gossip Queen of Riverdale High, with a manipulative personality to match.  If there's a scandal, she should be exacerbating it.  If there aren't any scandals around, she should be creating them.

Oooh, story idea.  Good Ginger is bummed because she can't find any interesting gossip to report on.  Enter Reggie.  He gives her a crash course in scandal.  Ginger goes bad following his advice.  (Well, as bad you're going to get in an Archie comic.)

In any case, I'd like to see more of her and used better.  There's always room for more fun characters.

This kind of leads to another question...have Ginger and Cheryl ever been in the SAME story?  I don't ever recall either of them sharing so much as a panel together!

In the "Battle of the BFFs" storyline that spanned Betty #187, Betty #188, Betty & Veronica #249 and Veronica #203, Cheryl and Ginger team up for the competition.

I agree. Her being a teen editor for a magazine opens up ideas to use the character for. She could cause a lot of grief for Archie and his crew.

So are they alike in personalities? Y'know, is Ginger sneaky, stuck up like Cheryl is?

I dunno, but in the "imaginary story" in Betty & Veronica's recent big issues, she's Cheryl's Evil partner, who then decides to be evil all on her own, declaring that "I'm not just a clone of Cheryl anymore!" in a *wink wink* moment to her origins.
