  • Jabroniville: Yeah, that's odd- Thor usually has the Hammer out in front. Though I don't think it's ever explained how he can throw it while in mid-flight and not just plummet like a goof. I wish artists would stop having him do things like that :)

  • Steveinthecity: @Biolante:  Thor uses the hammer to fly. He can throw his hammer during flight and float in one spot until the hammer returns to him. Don't know what Joe Q. was thinking there. I've never seen Thor fly on his own.

I think the ultimate reason why Cheryl Blossom comics stopped being published was due to her moving away from Riverdale entirely a few years earlier.

Of course, this doesn't explain why she came back just a year or two later...

I believe the move to France happened AFTER her own series was cancelled, which was likely due to low sales.

I don't see the reasoning behind getting rid of the character entirely.

Anyway, Cheryl soon moved back to Riverdale due to popular demand from her fans.

As I recall, they initially wrote her out of the comics (by having her move to France) because they didn't think she was all that popular, but later brought her back due to demand from her fans.

Yep.

The difference now is that Cheryl's family apparently has lost a lot of money (I don't know how this happened), so Cheryl is merely upper-middle class instead of upper class.

Also, the family now lives in Riverdale, not Pembrooke, but Cheryl attends a private school, which explains why she's not at Riverdale High.

As a side note, before Cheryl moved to France, while her series was heading towards quiet cancellation, Cheryl and Dilton became a couple, and Cheryl attended the Riverdale High prom with him!

The prom issue was #24.

Later issues dealing with their relationship were #28 and #30.

There might be more, but I'll have to check.

"Cheryl originally burst upon the Archie universe in BETTY & VERONICA #320 (Oct. 1982). Shaking things up on the beach, it was quite an auspicious debut. However, it wasn't until her fifth appearance in BETTY & VERONICA #322 (Feb. 1983) that she was formally introduced to Archie Andrews."

Betty and Veronica 320 is hard to find.  I paid $30 for a pretty beat-up copy and then somewhere around $50 for a pretty nice one.

One issue that people also forget about is Jughead 325.  It came out the same month as BnV320, but did not feature Cheryl on the cover.  In fact, BnV320 just has her up in the corner with a blurb introducing her, but it was still a "cover" appearance.  The story inside was beach related as well.

The Jughead story is odd.  Even though it's in the same month as the BnV320, it starts with her approaching Jughead and him saying "oh, hello there Cheryl" - like they've known each other for a long time.

Also - the bathing suit she is wearing is .... "skimpy" to say the least!  (which is the theme of the story.  Jughead even comments that he didn't think it was a swim suit, but a tatoo!  haha!
No matter where I go, there I am.  Creepy.
