  • Jabroniville: Yeah, that's odd- Thor usually has the Hammer out in front. Though I don't think it's ever explained how he can throw it while in mid-flight and not just plummet like a goof. I wish artists would stop having him do things like that :)

I know BOOM! Studios is losing the rights to its Disney comics to Marvel, except for according to the recent Previews Darkwing Duck and DuckTales.

Bur if DC buys Archie comics, would Sonic the Hedgehog and Mega Man move to DC to join its other kid aimed comic series including Looney Tunes, Scooby Doo, and MAD Magazine?

...So I see this line , see DTH's new post...then go back to the beginning and see that I started this line :o!!!!!!!!!!! Ay yi yi :D :idiot2: ::)
DTH , you mean that the " traditional " Disney stuff , UNCLE SCROOGE and the like , will be under the Marvel name but the more " modern " , quasi-superhero-y things that might be seen as having more " comic-shop fan " appeal , will stay at Boom! ? :o Frankly , you might think it'd be the other way around , if anything... :o
Around the mid-90s , before the merger , at that time , the Disney comics in a D&M vein were being published by Gladstone and distributed by them to comics shops , while Marvel was publishing Disney-based comics of their " new generation " ( Beauty and the Beast , Lion King ) properties which they of course distributed to comics shops...while , for non-comics shop - " newsstand " ???  - accounts , Marvel would distribute Gladstone's D&M titles , those copies would have an additional seal/trademark upon the covers indicating that ! It seemed like a good idea , but I suppose it didn't work out financially-speaking , it was something like the 3d of the 5 or so attempts to publish Disney comic books in the US started during the comics-shop years ( I.e. , after Gold Key/Whitman/Western's " old-style " Disney comics were discontinued about early 1984  :'( )...

Well, I don't see how that's a bad thing.  It will certainly allow those comics to get better distribution and probalby talent as well.

...Are you referring to that mid-90s split of the Disney titles and their distribution between Marvel and Gladstone/Hamilton ?
No , I agree , it seemed like a good idea - but I suppose it didn't work out financially well enough to continue , and it's years in the past now .
Is that what you meant ?????

What if Image Comics had bought Archie?  :coolsmiley:

Now Marvel would probably be sanitized for the precious kids. ::)

Not that I really care; I'm more of a DC fan myself.;D

If I remember correctly, Disney said they would stay out of Marvel's way concerning the comic business. Or I could be wrong? They are using the licence to release media though.

I think that artist Norm Breyfogle has shown remarkable restraint by not having Mr. Lodge twirl his mustache in every panel as the character's evil traits become more and more defined.-Chris Cummins http://www.toplessrobot.com/2011/04/the_10_craziest_moments_from_life_with_archie_the.php

If I took a shot at writing an Archie movie, would anyone mind?

Seems like a good deal for Mavel.  If the comic/film business dries up, they'll be supported by Disney.  Unless Disney tries to dump them, but I don't think that's really in the nature of the company.

There could be a slow creep into the corporate culture at Marvel, but I don't think "non-squeaky clean" stuff is beneath Disney at this point anways.

This makes me darn angry. :knuppel2:

BOOM's team did a great job on The Incredibles, and I can predict how Marvel will screw it up. :'(

Bad art from third-stringers who never saw the film will abound, & the writing will be done by some sullen lout who sees it as being "beneath him". :tickedoff:

Worse. They may try to make it "dark". :tickedoff: :tickedoff:

The writer & artist at BOOM got punked by Disney Corporate Suits, plain & simple.

At present . Marvel's management is being very unwilling to issue the traditional " Ducks & Mice " Disney characters - Obviously , Donald , Mickey , etcetera . - too .  :( So they are in limbo  >:( .
