  • Jabroniville: Yeah, that's odd- Thor usually has the Hammer out in front. Though I don't think it's ever explained how he can throw it while in mid-flight and not just plummet like a goof. I wish artists would stop having him do things like that :)

  • Steveinthecity: @Biolante:  Thor uses the hammer to fly. He can throw his hammer during flight and float in one spot until the hammer returns to him. Don't know what Joe Q. was thinking there. I've never seen Thor fly on his own.

More Of Classic Sabrina?
« on: July 25, 2011, 08:16:57 AM »
Is it my imagination, or are we seeing more of Classic Sabrina in comics lately?

Post-TV-Animated-ponytail version, I mean.

The original version is about 4,000 times cuter and better anyways.

They should also bring back Della.  What a sexy piece of witch she is.   :smitten:  I guess she didn't survive the "disneyfication" process this property went through with the reboots to make it more boring.  lol

Yeah, Della was unbelievably hot for the time. The skimpy dress and hip-boots made it feel more like a 1990s Image comic than Archie!

The first appearance of Sabrina in Madhouse was very pinup-esque.  :smitten:

De Carlo was feeling his oats the day he drew her. (It was De Carlo, wasn't it?)

And she had green eyes. Too many times, colorists are off-model, & give her blue.

De Carlo was feeling his oats the day he drew her. (It was De Carlo, wasn't it?)

From Bill Morrison's wonderful Dan DeCarlo book:

Quote
In 1962, Dan was given a script for Archie's Madhouse #22 that introduced a new character, a teenage witch named Sabrina. [...] George [Gladir] wrote the first Sabrina story, and as the artist it was Dan's task to design the character. Inspired by his design for Josie in the comic strip samples that remained on his shelf, Dan gave Sabrina a modern bouffant hairdo and a cute turned up nose that set her apart from the Montana-designed girls with their abstract triangular noses. Her eyes also strayed from the usual Archie house style. They were sultry and angular, with ultra-long lashes, unlike the stylized doe-eyed look of Betty and Veronica.

Well, the older Sabrina looks much better than the new Sabrina possibly coming out:
