  • Jabroniville: Yeah, that's odd- Thor usually has the Hammer out in front. Though I don't think it's ever explained how he can throw it while in mid-flight and not just plummet like a goof. I wish artists would stop having him do things like that :)

  • Steveinthecity: @Biolante:  Thor uses the hammer to fly. He can throw his hammer during flight and float in one spot until the hammer returns to him. Don't know what Joe Q. was thinking there. I've never seen Thor fly on his own.

I always wondered why Jughead wore that crown he wears...i mean why doesn't he take it off??
Does anyone know because i surely don't and i would like to know whyy if someone knew. :)
P.S. Does he eva take it off?? I haven't read a comic where he hasn't

EXCEPT ONE

Offline Captain Hero

There have been some stories where Jughead has worn baseball caps.  And, some of the stories illustrated by Samm Schwartz show him without it.  But, Jughead without his crown is kind of like ice cream without chocolate sauce.  It's a trademark, and sets him apart from all the other kids.  He is the non-conformist of the bunch, and the crown certainly helps out in that regard!

(P.S.  Nice to meet you, Bettyluver!)

Anywayss yeah your right Jughead does look differnt with his hat off...But i've only seen him once with out his hat soooo yeah:);)

hi Betty_Veronica_Luver_Rox! :)

There have also been stories where, in an effort to part Jughead with his hat, the gang replaces his hat with various others... A cowboy hat transforms Jughead into a bit of a clod-hopper and he immediately changes personalities into a cow-poke while nearly stomping poor Betty's feet to death. (Definitely a story worth tracking down if only to see Betty's expression as she pleads for someone not to let Jughead hurt her anymore since he's stomped her poor tootsies!) The hat that's finally settled on for Jughead, to replace his worn-out beanie, is something that looks a bit like a crab - which scares quite a few people and isn't an improvement at all over Jug's usual cranial-wear so, back to the old gray hat it is... :)

I don't really know honeybee but thats a good thing to research i think i will do that right now and if i find something i promise i will tell you EVEYONE who wants to know

The crown has been there since thefirst story in 1941. It's a cut-up fedora that Jughead decorated with buttons. Basically, it's an outdated fashion that Archie Comics never got rid of.

... much like Betty's recurring ponytail and Archie's checked hair, though at least Betty gets to deviate from her coiffure once in awhile

And I notice that Betty's ponytail is worn up or down, so even the ponytail itself varies.

In Cheryl's series, Betty often wore pigtails.

She also briefly visited the side-ponytail for awhile, but, Betty of the future and ooga-booga past is fond of that particular up-do. I guess it's just a classic. :) Betty's hair, as drawn by DeCarlo way-back-when (you guys are much better about time frames than I am) wasn't really a ponytail, but, it wasn't necessarily loose either. It was sort of ambiguous that way, but, it was distinctive enough and one of my favorite styles she sported. :)
