  • Steveinthecity: When Thor pulls the hammer back to throw, his momentum stops. He has always been able to float or hover once airborne, and he'll remain until the hammer comes back to him.  I guess the winds keep him aloft.

  • Biollante: ok so shouldn't Joe Quesada know that? lol  It made him look a bit stupid imo.

  • Jabroniville: Yeah, that's odd- Thor usually has the Hammer out in front. Though I don't think it's ever explained how he can throw it while in mid-flight and not just plummet like a goof. I wish artists would stop having him do things like that :)

  • Steveinthecity: @Biolante:  Thor uses the hammer to fly. He can throw his hammer during flight and float in one spot until the hammer returns to him. Don't know what Joe Q. was thinking there. I've never seen Thor fly on his own.

  • Biollante: Joe Quesada was drawing Thor on some Disney promo, and he drew him flying with his hammer on his side, now I'm not a Thor junkie, but isn't that actualy inaccurate, doesn't he fly by being dragged by his hammer???

  • Biollante: gonna be hard for anyting to catch up, Ridley Scott is pretty much the top of dark visual design imo, and he drew a lot from Moebius for that film, most fillm makers are not really connected to aestheticas of good fantasy film making in the same way

This is an extraordinarily smooth-running board.  There's occasional spam and problem members, but it's mostly self-policed and Oldiesmann is always there to bring the hammer down if need be.

The last thing I want is to add authority figures to my life. :)  Invariably some thread I find interesting will get locked because discussion gets "too heated."  Or the moderator will delete posts or issue warnings because "double posting isn't allowed."  I hate that ticky-tack nonsense.

Please let's leave well enough alone.

Ok, maybe not a traditional mod that asserts her/himself in every thread.  But how about someone that just has mod powers in case the site is trolled or attacked while Oldiesman is offline?  Just some back up, nothing else I think.  They wouldn't even need to be in a mod user group.  Believe me, I have trouble with authority as well and like forums that are very lax compared to overmodded.  I've had to leave several boards, just because the rules were too insane or the staff overmodded the place.  But it's pretty much an internet law this forum will get flooded or something at some point.

I tend to agree that we don't need a (new) moderator.  The forum runs smoothly most of the time, and Oldiesmann has always been swift and efficient at dealing with any problems I've known about here.

If we must have one, though, I nominate Captain Hero.
