I know this is likely not relevant anymore, but, I like the look of Overview Lite (softer edges, etc.), but, the coloring of Silent Wave.

I'll talk to the guy who owns that site and see if he can create a blended theme for us. With the new portal I'll be using, I can use any theme that's compatible with that version of the forum software without having to modify it (like I did with this one).

Just a quick update on this... I am still hoping to upgrade the forum to the newer version in the coming weeks. Unfortunately it looks like the portal system I'm using here is all but dead, and the theme still isn't compatible with the new version (I was told by the person who created it that he would be updating it a while ago, but that still hasn't happened).

In addition, there's another theme available now that might work with the logo:

OrangeLine

I will set up a demo site with the new portal, etc. before I convert this one so everyone can let me know what they think.

What about these?

http://www.fussilet.com/21/index.php?theme=14

I haven't installed either on the "new" site because I don't want to purchase something I'm not going to use (they're only $6 each though).

Haven't installed it on the test site because I don't want to pay $6 for it if we're not going to use it.

I personally think this one is more "user-friendly" than the previous sample you showed to us.

That's the new default theme for the forum, called "Curve". If you like it, we can use that as the new site theme (we'll just need to adjust the banner since the orange doesn't fit very well with that theme).

Any more comments on the new theme? If not, I will plan on using that as the default theme for the upgraded site, and begin working on other things related to the upgrade (figuring out how I want to handle getting Rik's posts to the front page, determining what addons will or won't work with the new version, etc.). It will likely be several weeks (possibly even a month or two) before I actually upgrade the site, but I want to take the time to plan things out in order for things to go as smoothly as possible, since this is a rather large update.

My theme here is already set to blue, so I don't think it would be a problem to keep using the orange banner, just as I don't think it's that big a deal that it's orange now. I think that, no matter what theme you eventually decide on, it'll be fine! :)

My main issue with the banner is that I want something that matches the overall theme of the forum. That's why I switched the default color to orange a while back.

The new default theme does have some orange in it though, so we might not need to change the banner.

At this point I'll go ahead and start planning out the upgrade. It will likely be a few weeks before the actual upgrade (I need time to test things and such), but the sooner I start planning, the better prepared I'll be.

The new version of the forum system has been released to the public, so I will likely be upgrading the site within the next week or to. I am off the next two days so I will work on the "new" site and get a feel for how I want to do things, which will also let you see how things will be laid out. At this point the plan is to just use the default theme, but I will also look into other theme options as well.

Just wanted to update everyone on the status of things.

Now that I've found a theme everyone likes, and all of the addons I plan to keep are updated for the new version of the forum, I will likely be upgrading the site sometime this week - possibly even tomorrow if I have time (I'm off tomorrow).

Here's what I have left to do:
Test new version of the Shop feature
Finish upgrading gallery integration
Test some other backend changes

As I've said, the new version has numerous new features and other improvements, including:
Enhanced PM center
WYSIWYG editor so you can make fancier posts without needing to be familiar with bbcode
Improved notification email options
Built-in custom profile fields (I will take advantage of this to add things like Facebook/Twitter, possibly other options)
Theme improvements
Various other changes/improvements
