  • Jabroniville: Yeah, that's odd- Thor usually has the Hammer out in front. Though I don't think it's ever explained how he can throw it while in mid-flight and not just plummet like a goof. I wish artists would stop having him do things like that :)

Should I "officially" announce this board now?
« on: April 25, 2006, 12:52:47 PM »
I am trying to decide when I should try to get the board mentioned in an upcoming comic book (either in "Editor's Notebook" or "Riverdale Mail"). I wanted to wait until the board was more active, but considering that it would probably be several months before my board got announced anyway, I'm thinking it might be better to go ahead and send an email now rather than continuing to wait. What do you think? I'm not even sure the company will want to publish it (various reasons, mainly because some people might see that as the company officially endorsing and/or sponsoring this site), but I think it could lead to a jump in the activity level here, which would be a great thing.

What do you think? We've already got some great discussion going on here, and I think it might be worth a shot to attempt to get it mentioned.

I know I’m a newbie here and all, but I’ll toss my 2 cents in: I voted for “wait”.  Maybe until a few more members jump on board. :)

It would be a great ad and it would be nice to show the company that the fans do love the books and characters. But you make a very valid point about the various reasons why they might not be too thrilled with the idea.  People may come to believe that it is associated with the company, when it’s really completely separate.

Then again, I might just be paranoid because of the Archie section being pulled when it was discovered at fanfiction.net.

I'm pretty sure they already know about me - I emailed Michael Seikbert (the company president) a while back asking for permission to use "Archie comics" (as in "Your one-stop spot for discussing everything related to Archie comics") in a Google ad, but I never got a response. Still, I doubt they could do anything to me - I've already got a disclaimer saying that this board isn't associated with the company, so it's not really my problem if people can't read.

Also, you'll be happy to know that I was just thinking about adding a Fan Fiction board - I'm sure that would help draw in more members... I'll add it shortly :)

Too bad he hasn't posted anything yet. :(

Yeah, it's a lot more well-known now than it was when I originally started this topic a little over 14 months ago (that was only a couple months after I started the board too).

Well, as an annoying graphic designer type, before I could see the forum thrust into the spotlight it is in dire need of a good banner for "Archie Comics Fan Forum"--- instead of just that Lucidia font typed up there.  Without graphics it gives the impression of being a commonplace EZ board forum that somebody started on their lunch break.

I'll gladly create suggested banner if you would like one :)

Brunette was working on a banner I thought, but feel free to create your own if you want. Nobody says we can't have two banners :)
