  • Jabroniville: Yeah, that's odd- Thor usually has the Hammer out in front. Though I don't think it's ever explained how he can throw it while in mid-flight and not just plummet like a goof. I wish artists would stop having him do things like that :)

  • Steveinthecity: @Biolante:  Thor uses the hammer to fly. He can throw his hammer during flight and float in one spot until the hammer returns to him. Don't know what Joe Q. was thinking there. I've never seen Thor fly on his own.

List the Comics You Have Subscriptions For
« on: August 15, 2011, 02:35:57 PM »
Thread is pretty simple.  Just list the comics you currently have subscriptions to.  Just interested to see what everyone reads.  Me:

Betty and Veronica Double Digest
Heavy Metal Magazine (I know the first two titles really go together.  LOL)
Batwoman (Just subscribed today!  Almsot forgot it was launching on the 31st.)

The Invincible Iron Man
Fear Itself
X-Factor
Captain America
Conan: Road of Kings
Zorro Rides Again
Batman, Inc.
Batgirl (but it ends this month)
Zatanna (but it ends this month)
Rocketeer Tales
Daredevil

Starting in September:
Action
Superman
Wonder Woman

I don't subscribe to any current Archies.  I pick some up or order some now and then if, after leafing through an issue or being intrigued by a solicitation, I think I'll enjoy them.

Archie:
All the Digests
All the Archie floppies
Life with Archie Magazine
Archie All Stars Graphic novels

DC:
Justice League (been collecting this for 40+ years, I can't quit now)
Birds of Prey
Secret Six

(after the reboot next month, I'll be down to just Justice League. Might try Batgirl since I love Gail Simone's writing)

Atlas:
All titles! (Phoenix, Grim Ghost, Wulf)

I have subscriptions to:

Life with Archie
Betty and Veronica Double Digest
Betty Comic Book (Mainly subscribed to this one to try to help save the series when it seemed to be in jeopardy)
Kevin Keller Miniseries

I try to buy the rest of them at my local newsstand when possible.

...Does this always mean " literal " , by-mail subscriptions  ??? ???????????
Just US/Can/otherwise mail or subscription services too ???
I have often thought that it appears , anyway , that modern-day comic books don't seem to emphasize subscriptions much anymore , THO' Archie , DC and Marvel , I guess , offer all of their regularly published titles as subs , I suppose...Of course , I mean ,Archie is different from this , they DO still emphasize subscription ads and , for contrast , DC and Marvel seem to not do so anymore , and they did in the 80s/90s...
Maybe,  among my older generation of comics fans there was more of a " Support your local comics shop " AND a " Comics via subscription get all _!&*@d up " - ??? -  feeling , and , of course , since many comics shops give little or no love >:( to our Riverdale homies :'( , even where there is a comics shop...

Um... I have a pull list at my local comic shop and it works out to about 20 comics a week, plus three or four books - so it's pretty extensive!  I'm into many alternate titles, but get about 10 titles from each of the big two.  Plus, all Archie, Boom kids (ducks), etc.

It seems many of my favourites are getting cancelled (ducks), but DC is doing some relaunches - so we'll have to see.

Mostly, I go by characters - regardless of title.  About the only thing I don't buy are mini series - I wait for the trade.  Unless it's something I really can't wait on.
No matter where I go, there I am.  Creepy.

Right now I'm subscribed to Arche, Sonic the Hedgehog and Sonic Universe.  I read them every chance I get but I get them mostly for collection purposes, trying to stay 100% complete on the Sonic series

My pull list is only from the New 52 for now. Sorted by group:

(Justice League related)
Justice League

(Superman related)
Action
Superboy

(Batman related)
Batman
Batgirl
Nightwing
Red Hood and the Outlaws
Birds of Prey

(Green Lantern related)
Green Lantern
Green Lantern Corps
Green Lantern: New Guardians
Red Lanterns

(Dark group)
Animal Man

(Edge group)
Deathstroke

(Young Justice group)
Teen Titans
Hawk and Dove

After adding Animal Man and removing Hawk and Dove, I realized that the first week would consist only of serious comics (Action, Red Lanterns, Animal Man). I re-added Hawk and Dove because it was far lighter than the rest of the first week titles.

Stuff I wanted but can't afford:

Wonder Woman
Aquaman
Batman and Robin
Justice League Dark
Suicide Squad
Blue Beetle

And I can't even get started on Marvel (wanting to try Uncanny X-Force and other Wolverine/Deadpool related books, as well as Captain America) or get back into Archie.

In most cases, I am following books for the character.

I'm thinking of subscribing to all of the Archie floppies...but I would like to know if they are mailed properly...by that, I mean...do the individual issues come packed well? I don't want to receive a comic each month that arrives bent or damaged. I recently received a package from Archie.com and the back issues of Life With Archie were damaged.
