  • Jabroniville: Yeah, that's odd- Thor usually has the Hammer out in front. Though I don't think it's ever explained how he can throw it while in mid-flight and not just plummet like a goof. I wish artists would stop having him do things like that :)

  • Steveinthecity: @Biolante:  Thor uses the hammer to fly. He can throw his hammer during flight and float in one spot until the hammer returns to him. Don't know what Joe Q. was thinking there. I've never seen Thor fly on his own.

Pearls Before Swine

I don't know how many of you keep up with this strip, but it has become a favorite of mine... Between the random really bad jokes and the idiot crocs who are always trying to trick the zebra into getting eaten, this strip never gets old.

One of the running gags in the strip is that Rat is getting tired of the bad puns, and wants to work for a different strip because of that... Here's a great example of that from this past Sunday...

Poor Pastis! Rat, Zebra and the Crocs are definitely my favorites in that comic. A mention too to the guard duck and... the chained dog whose name I can't remember... I used to read this comic constantly, but,... well, once For Better or For Worse effectively ended their ongoing story line (now it's stories from when Michael and Elizabeth were young) I haven't been keeping up with my online comics. Pearls Before Swine, Over the Hedge, Liberty Meadows, PvP, Luann (which was more interesting because of her brother and Toni's story arc) were a few that I really enjoyed reading.

I haven't seen Luann in a long time. We used to get that in our afternoon paper, but they stopped production at the end of last year (kind of complicated, but basically they had a contract with the company that published the main (morning) paper, and apparently they didn't want to renew that contract). The Enquirer picked up some of the comics from The Post (such as Get Fuzzy and Dilbert), but Luann wasn't one of them.

...I like PBS a lot !!!!!!!!!
It's , really , the only strip I more-or-less get myself to follow online , now that I no longer absolutely-regularly get a daily paper , having gotten angry at San Francisco's only standard one , the Chronicle .
I spoke to Pastis a few years back , at Wondercon , he was hosting a panel about Charles Schulz...

*lol* Wayyyyy too much work for that joke, but, it's not really uncommon for that (or other) comic strips. It's also fairly common in that strip for the last panel to have one (usually Rat) admonishing the comic artist (shown in the final panel) for his horrible puns. I think Stephen Pastis is just into self-deprecation, still, I really like that comic and need to start reading it again! Thanks for posting it, Oldiesmann! :)

I'm a PBS fan, but it's still odd to see Pig eating ham.  I know he's killed people in the strip, but cannibalism is different.

I get it!  Aside from having Madonna do a cameo in the comic strip, it's hard not to see the humour in it all.  :D

The bad puns like that are part of the reason I enjoy that strip so much. I should have seen it coming as soon as they mentioned rye and "Evita's"...

If I did not watch Kronk's New Groove (Yeah, Kronk said that) I probably wouldn't have got this strip. A very "bad" pun indeed. ;) I think this comic is probably enough to get me into reading webcomics again. Keep 'em coming!
