Hey ! Nice to know somebody cares Fantasy !

My reasons, in addition to the ones above :

- He is the most sensible guy in the bunch ( despite his antics )
-Still, that does not stop him from doing crazy stuff
-He is smart but not a showoff
-He also cares about people the way Betty does
-Last but not the least, He's weird

Very weird :)

Jughead is the coolest of them all.
 My reasons  -
 1. He does not care what ppl says, he does not go by societies stupid rules.  He does what HE wants.
 2. He is very smart, but in a very quite way
 3. Even though mostly he does not get involved, he can actually think up the coolest ways to outwit others or help his friends.
 4. Is not intimidated by Veronica's beauty, temper or money. Always tells her what she deserves to hear.
 5. Walks around with his eyes closed, but knows everything that is happening, and sometimes swoops in to save the day
 6. He is weird <3

I agree with all of you.  The only thing I can add is: He eats like crazy, never gets full (except on a few occasion), and stays thin!   ;D
I have so many Archies, I've lost count!  :D

Jughead's #1 fan.

The thing that I like best about Jughead is that as offbeat and wacky as he is, he's still personable enough to have a lot of allies and friends.  Kinda gave this offbeat, wacky guy some hope.

Although sometimes he acts crazy , weird or something like that , he still is smart. But not smarter then Dilton....Dilton is smart in a ... Scientific way , Whereas Jughead is smart in a..a...sensible way..-.-'.So if Jughead really outsmart Dilton one day , He's gonna really catch everyone's attention

Well, I can tell from personal xp that people who are smart in the sensible way trump over all else in the end.

More often than not, all that know-how keeps you from seeing the really obvious things.

Jughead is the best. I think he is a great friend to Archie and I love his long pointy nose and crazy hat.

Old topic, obviously, but I like Jughead because he's the most interesting character in the ArchieVerse.  The more we find out about him, really, the less we know.  His appetite is phenomenal, true, and he'll do just about anything to get something to eat but at the same time he may give that food to someone else who is more needy than he.  (The double anchovy pizza he gives to a homeless  man has been reprinted several times -- and he never tells his buddies that he gave away his lunch.)

He spends his time as Juggo the Clown at the kids' floor at the local hospital, as well as visiting the old folks' home and playing checkers (and letting the opponent win) or reading romance novels to little old ladies.

He constantly defends his friends -- even Reggie and Veronica -- against their detractors.

He does help Betty in her quest to get Archie (although he may sometimes see Betty as the lesser of two evils) away from Veronica.

He pranks Reggie, but Reggie always makes the first move (a lot like Bugs Bunny, who doesn't start fights but does finish them.)

He knows what he wants and what he likes to do, and who his friends are.  He tries to help anyone he knows who's in troubel or is sad (he's helped Miss Grundy on a number of occasions; shes's probably his favorite teacher, and not because she's the math and home ec teacher, either).

Jughead is almost as smart as Dilton, and helps him out sometimes as well.  Jughead just doesn't feel like it's necessary to show off and get acclaim -- you can't eat it or put it in the bank, after all!     ; }

Sh00t! I gotsta get in on this action!

His beanie and long nose are so adorably iconic. ^_^ I have to say that. Seriously, you could recognize that guy in a blizzard.

He's kind, always willing to help people out (as long as there's food involved, that is). He knows what he wants and it doesn't matter what others may think of him, and that kind of draws you to him. He also knows how to get what he wants. He knows everyone so well, and he has a way with saying things--everything can be on the brink of destruction and he'll say two words and somehow it fixes everything.

And yet he still manages to screw up a lot. XD

Usually, characters that over eat tick me off but somehow the Archie writers managed it and made me laugh at the same time. :) Jughead is the most complex character in Archie. While many characters in the comic are onesided (Archie is always after girls, Veronica is always being a rude little brat, Reggie is always flirting and generally being a donkey), Jughead has a lot of layers and it's hard for me to predict what he'll do next.

To Jughead!

Yeah, Jughead is awesome. There's just so much TO the character. He's like a study in contrasts, the way everything about him plays off the other things. He's epically multi-faceted:

* He's the most aloof and non-caring of the characters by far. Yet he's the one most likely to freak out (given the presence of food, or Trula Twyst).
* He's shockingly greedy and gluttonous, yet is often the one who will donate his food to a hungry homeless person or a needy kid.
* He doesn't care for girls/dating, yet he's openly friendly with Betty (in most stories).
* He acts aloof about dating, but we've actually seen him go through tremendous angst around women, too. Like most Archie characters, they can play this either way and it doesn't really break anything.
* He's smart and a great student at times, but also tremendously lazy.
* He's lazy, yet will run a mile when Ethel comes running :).
* He's a good friend to almost everyone, yet is the one most likely to poke fun at others in his aloof manner. Only Reggie, Ronnie & Cheryl are more insulting, and Juggie does it to his CLOSEST FRIENDS.

Jughead is also by far the most "Iconic" Archie character. If you hear or see someone refer to Archie Comics (especially in pop culture), they will inevitably refer to Jughead first- "Family Guy" does it (more than once), that one "Simpsons" scene shows Jug & Moose more prominently than the others, the webcomic "Something Positive" made reference to him (a character was making fun of his friend for talking about "girls go for guys who Letter in High School athletics!"- "Well gee Jughead, that's great!"- implying he's using old-school simplistic thinking) over any other Archie character. He's got the most dynamic appearance of the group (the hat is a dead-giveaway over anything, and everyone alive recognizes it) and the most different name ("Archie" could mean many people, same with most of the other characters).

Jughead is also the character with the largest Supporting Cast based around JUST HIM- Archie is the centre of the universe, sure, and Betty & Ron have groups of friends (Ron's got her family as well), but only Jughead gets his parents, Big Ethel, Trula Twyst, Jellybean, Cousin Souphead, etc. all hanging around. Out of the entire cast, Jug survives the best "outside" of the others, because of all the supporting friends & enemies.

Jughead is the character that can generate the most number of awesome stories centered around him. Which is why i buy Jughead Digests so much. No doubt he is the most iconic Archie character.

He pranks Reggie, but Reggie always makes the first move (a lot like Bugs Bunny, who doesn't start fights but does finish them.)
Not entirely true. There have been quite a few stories where Jughead and Archie teams up to prank Reggie first. And there have been stories where Archie and Reggie team up to fool Jug too. I like that about them, that none of them are bullies or victims, but friends who try to outwit each other just for fun :) And Jughead usually comes out on top :D

I love it how Jug is originally seen as a bit of an outcast--he doesn't care about appearances, or anything not edible, really--but he's really pretty smart and the ways he outwits people makes you laugh. :)
