  • Steveinthecity: When Thor pulls the hammer back to throw, his momentum stops. He has always been able to float or hover once airborne, and he'll remain until the hammer comes back to him.  I guess the winds keep him aloft.

  • Jabroniville: Yeah, that's odd- Thor usually has the Hammer out in front. Though I don't think it's ever explained how he can throw it while in mid-flight and not just plummet like a goof. I wish artists would stop having him do things like that :)

  • Steveinthecity: @Biolante:  Thor uses the hammer to fly. He can throw his hammer during flight and float in one spot until the hammer returns to him. Don't know what Joe Q. was thinking there. I've never seen Thor fly on his own.

What Special Edition re-release? I haven't seen / heard of anything.

But my local theater (and possibly the entire Regal Cinemas chain) put Eclipse back in on Sunday, because, apparently, Monday was Bella's birthday. ::)

Betty Cooper + Cheryl Blossom. It's inevitable.

I saw Despicable Me in 3-D this summer...it was pretty neat.  The minions during the closing credits were awesome in 3-D!

Supposedly, they may stop making 3D movies since they aren't as profitable as expected post-Alice in Wonderland..  Although, I hope they still keep the projectors and stuff in the theaters.  It would be kind of stupid to watch Avatar II in 2D.

There are two reasons for that in my opinion:
1. Additional cost of seeing a movie in 3D (weak economy, people are trying to save as much as they can)
2. Many film studios are doing it simply because it's popular, regardless of whether it adds anything to the film. Some films work much better in 3D, but for many films it has become more of a way to try to make a bigger profit on the film.

No way!

My friend and I went to see "Avatar" last year and watching such a big adventure/action movie swiftly move around in neon-bright, eye-popping 3-D colors really made me THROW UP violently!  :buck2: (Lucky I had a nearly empty popcorn bucket handy!)

So forget it already. :(

Well, most people that run corporations are idiots.  A bunch of bean counters from business school that wouldn't understand creative thinking if it was hit over their heads in the form of an aluminum baseball bat.  So of course the concept is going to immediately get watered down and done to death to the point that the public immediately gets sick of it.

Prometheus was shot in 3d though, with real sets, locations, and props, and I want to see that at least since it will probably be the scifi movie of the decade.

Also, I hope future TVs and home video players support these films without having to pay extra for something that is going to be a short-term fad in the end.  I like watching films they way they were actually shot, and there's going to be a few like Avatar and Dario Argento's Dracula that I'm going to probably want to rewatch once in a while.

I saw "Tangled", "Thor", and "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" in 3-D. NONE of those impressed me. The 3-D effects were barely there. They seemed to benefit the text mostly! Look at those words jump off the screen! I've seen much better 3-D in the Terminator and Shrek shows at Universal Studios (seriously, go and see them; they blow the 3-D movies released in your local theater out of the water).
