  • Steveinthecity: When Thor pulls the hammer back to throw, his momentum stops. He has always been able to float or hover once airborne, and he'll remain until the hammer comes back to him.  I guess the winds keep him aloft.

  • Jabroniville: Yeah, that's odd- Thor usually has the Hammer out in front. Though I don't think it's ever explained how he can throw it while in mid-flight and not just plummet like a goof. I wish artists would stop having him do things like that :)

  • Steveinthecity: @Biolante:  Thor uses the hammer to fly. He can throw his hammer during flight and float in one spot until the hammer returns to him. Don't know what Joe Q. was thinking there. I've never seen Thor fly on his own.

  • Biollante: Joe Quesada was drawing Thor on some Disney promo, and he drew him flying with his hammer on his side, now I'm not a Thor junkie, but isn't that actualy inaccurate, doesn't he fly by being dragged by his hammer???

  • Biollante: gonna be hard for anyting to catch up, Ridley Scott is pretty much the top of dark visual design imo, and he drew a lot from Moebius for that film, most fillm makers are not really connected to aestheticas of good fantasy film making in the same way

Forbes Fictional 15
« on: November 19, 2011, 02:30:32 PM »
Before I start, it turns out Forbes comes up with a list of the 15 richest fictional characters every year since 2002.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forbes_Fictional_15

19th November happens to be Mickey's 83rd year, thank to my friend's post on FB. So, one thing led to another and I found myself reading Uncle Scrooge's article for what must be the nth time. This time I found out that Mc Duck has been included in Forbes rich list every year since 2002 and has topped it many times including this year.

The notable omission : Mr. Lodge. The fact that a publication like Forbes doesn't even register Mr. Lodge on it's radar speaks poorly of the riches of the Lodges. No wonder Mr. Lodge gets into fits when Ron goes on a spending spree.

What makes this fact more interesting is a strip ( Sunday, because it spanned many panels ) which I read in the 90s.

In the strip Ron makes some calls to other rich fictional characters from her poolside. I somewhat remember her rants to Richie Rich and Scrooge Mc Duck.

She told Richie that she bought and sold 15 like him before and after breakfast.

She told Uncle Scrooge to be careful or something like that or she will have him in orange sauce.

The script ends with her gloating on her No. 1 Rich rank.

Well, seems either Ron was getting delusional and bragging in vain or Lodge Industries suffered heavily in the 2000-2001 bust period.

The list for 2011 is here :

The code which picks out the random images must be AI material, this was the image it threw up when I posted the topic.

Thanks for the link!  I found it quite interesting!  :)

Yeah, I wonder where Mr. Lodge and Veronica are...  We should complain!
I have so many Archies, I've lost count!  :D

Jughead's #1 fan.
