  • Steveinthecity: When Thor pulls the hammer back to throw, his momentum stops. He has always been able to float or hover once airborne, and he'll remain until the hammer comes back to him.  I guess the winds keep him aloft.

  • Jabroniville: Yeah, that's odd- Thor usually has the Hammer out in front. Though I don't think it's ever explained how he can throw it while in mid-flight and not just plummet like a goof. I wish artists would stop having him do things like that :)

  • Steveinthecity: @Biolante:  Thor uses the hammer to fly. He can throw his hammer during flight and float in one spot until the hammer returns to him. Don't know what Joe Q. was thinking there. I've never seen Thor fly on his own.

I'd keep the old fridge -- and magnets -- in the garage as a back-up. Plugged in and stuffed with all the bad stuff: sodas, desserts, bottled water, etc. ... :)

Thought about that possibility Gregg, but why add to our electric bill? There is but the wife and I alone, new fridge has plenty of room, and we already paid to have them to take away the old fridge when they bring the new one. Problem solved. Seems a bit wasteful I guess. We could try to sell the old one, but who has the time? Just get it out of our lives.

Beer + Fridge + comics = bliss  :)    (all you youngsters take note - beer is really bad and you should never, ever drink any - send any you find to ...)

A great option is always to call a local homeless shelter.  They often can use appliances and you will be helping folks out.
No matter where I go, there I am.  Creepy.

That's a nice fridge and... so... shiny! I was happy when our new house came equipped with a lovely stainless steel fridge complete with, my favorite part, an ice-maker/water dispenser... Previously we'd been living with lots of ice trays and Britta pitchers, so, I honestly think I saw our fridge as having a sort of glow about it! ^_^ As for magnets though, it's only magnetic on the sides, so I've got the least visible side plastered!

Aya,
Tell me about it!  Our old unit was an ice cube tray rig too! What a pain. I told my wife the new fridge HAD to have water and ice inthe door! I didn't care what other features it had, except water and ice in the door! It's coming tomorrow! Between 8AM and 10AM! I can't wait! Fisrt thing I'm gonna do is drink some ice water!
BTW, I talked to one of my co-workers today, and I am donating the old fridge to him. He and his wife have a really old 50s/60s style fridge that is NOT frost-free! So, since I was going to give it away to BEST BUY, I decided to give it to someone I know who really needs something a little better than what they have. The downside is that I have to use my pick-up truck to drive it an hour to his house since he has no way to get it there himself.  But he did say he's give me some gas money. Karma Points for me!

Glad to hear you're giving it to someone who can really use it. There are lots of good places to donate though, Habitat for Humanity, local churches, women's shelters, even the humane society will accept old blankets and towels. I'm sure your friend will appreciate it a lot, and you'll definitely be deserving of that first cool drink of ice water!!

(You should totally sneak a magnet on the side when your wife isn't looking, you could even make up a few Archie magnets to tack up! Everyone loves Archie stuff!)

Aya,
Ha Ha! Yeah, I would find sneaking a magnet onto the fridge funny, but right now I don't think the wife would. When I came home from work tonight, I walked into the kitchen and was actually surprised by the new fridge. I was expecting to see the old almond colored one and SURPRISE! Big silver fridge staring at me. I loudly announced as I got ice and water out of the door:"I am now getting ice out of the door! And I am now getting water, out of the door!" A small victory, but it's all mine! Oh yeah! I could make some Archie magnets! Maybe one of naked Archie getting thrown into the pond by his buddies.

I know the scene you're talking about, MJB. :) Yeah, though, if you're going to commit a heinous act of fridge magnet decorations, you might as well go with the most garish magnets you can find! :)

Brunette - I'd like one to help stock up on groceries... and, of course, ice cream, like you'd mentioned!

With my healthy situation, I have to keep the sugar down to a minimum, but we do have a couple of boxes of ice cream in the new freezer.
