  • Steveinthecity: When Thor pulls the hammer back to throw, his momentum stops. He has always been able to float or hover once airborne, and he'll remain until the hammer comes back to him.  I guess the winds keep him aloft.

  • Jabroniville: Yeah, that's odd- Thor usually has the Hammer out in front. Though I don't think it's ever explained how he can throw it while in mid-flight and not just plummet like a goof. I wish artists would stop having him do things like that :)

  • Steveinthecity: @Biolante:  Thor uses the hammer to fly. He can throw his hammer during flight and float in one spot until the hammer returns to him. Don't know what Joe Q. was thinking there. I've never seen Thor fly on his own.

Karma Points
« on: December 14, 2011, 11:45:27 AM »
Okay, so a long time back, I bought five karma points because I had none.

Now, I have 14 points that I didn't buy, and feel guilty about it showing 19 instead.

Could five people please smite me, so I reach my true karma number?

Thanks!  :)
I have so many Archies, I've lost count!  :D

I don't feel right smiting someone who didn't do anything wrong. Maybe say a few things that would upset me. :)

Exactly. There's no real reason to do it, 99.99% of the time.

I think I'm the one that keeps applauding you.  lol  As a reaction to past incidents, which I don't feel like explaining again, I decided to do the opposite of that and just go around applauding people a bunch of times.

Don't feel bad about having bought 5 karma points.  lol  I think I bought more.

Just applauded everyone in the thread.  Cheers.

I think I've only ever been smited like twice, and that's only because I got into a petty argument with a spammer...LOL!

Since admins can enter whatever values they want for a user's positive/negative karma, I can easily knock 5 points off your karma if it means that much to you :P

Exactly , Exactly ! It doesn't matter , so long as you don't do something REAL wrong. Like Smiting someone who was saying the right thing.Or being a Jerk.

*sniff* I wish someone would applaud ME....  :'(. ;)

Personally, I think I've applauded people for making really good points in the past. I think I applauded PTF when he first joined because he didn't have any at first, and I introduced him to the site. I haven't smited (smoten?) that many people if I recall, just spammers, and people who acted REALLY obnoxious and annoying (you can probably all tell to whom I am referring :)- hint: his Karma is REALLY low because I think EVERYONE did that).

I smited a couple others in arguments months and months ago, because I sort of thought that was the point of such a system (sort of like hitting an "Agree/Disagree" button), but I figured it was kind of petty, and some people seemed to take their Karma semi-seriously, so I knocked it off after one or two times. So despite debating with Ghidra something like fifty times in the past six months, I haven't gone as far as hitting the "smite" button since :).

While we're on the subject of karma, would you folks maybe prefer a more enhanced karma system?

The enhanced system would require users to enter a reason for changing your karma, send you PMs when your karma was changed and even include info about a post that your karma was changed from (if applicable).

I have never used that modification before, but it might make the karma more fun and useful.
