  • Steveinthecity: When Thor pulls the hammer back to throw, his momentum stops. He has always been able to float or hover once airborne, and he'll remain until the hammer comes back to him.  I guess the winds keep him aloft.

  • Jabroniville: Yeah, that's odd- Thor usually has the Hammer out in front. Though I don't think it's ever explained how he can throw it while in mid-flight and not just plummet like a goof. I wish artists would stop having him do things like that :)

  • Steveinthecity: @Biolante:  Thor uses the hammer to fly. He can throw his hammer during flight and float in one spot until the hammer returns to him. Don't know what Joe Q. was thinking there. I've never seen Thor fly on his own.

  • Biollante: Joe Quesada was drawing Thor on some Disney promo, and he drew him flying with his hammer on his side, now I'm not a Thor junkie, but isn't that actualy inaccurate, doesn't he fly by being dragged by his hammer???

  • Biollante: gonna be hard for anyting to catch up, Ridley Scott is pretty much the top of dark visual design imo, and he drew a lot from Moebius for that film, most fillm makers are not really connected to aestheticas of good fantasy film making in the same way

MegaUpload taken down

Apparently, the gooberment got MegaUpload taken down in the name of preventing video piracy.

Not only is this bad, but it also means that probably hundreds of fan edits are offline (I'm a member of FanEdit.org, and I had two fan edits up with a third about to be released).

Betty Cooper + Cheryl Blossom. It's inevitable.

I've never used MegaUpload, so I can't say for sure what the deal was...but I've heard that site was on the radar to be investigated long before SOPA/PIPA came about.

Yeah, it has nothing to do with SOPA -- not only is that not law (and it's not going to be, at least not this year) but this raid actually proves that the feds don't need SOPA to shut down pirates.

It seems like a huge federal over-reach.  I mean they even charged the guy that did the graphics for the website with serious crimes.   :idiot2:  I don't see these cases going that far with a jury.  It's pretty much legal doctrine that a webhost isn't responsible for what people upload to the website if the owner at least tries to enforce the rules to remove the infringing content when they're made aware of it.  There's no way they can prove that Megaupload was designed for piracy.  This is why the guy that owns Napster never went to jail.

Taking down Megaupload may seem like a minor victory for them.  But it's like chopping off the head of a Hydra, three more will re-appear in its place.  I used them once in a while, but there's like six other hosts that are more popular now, not to mention torrents.  Note, I mainly used Megaupload for things that weren't commercially available, like cartoon episodes not released on DVD.

The SOPA/PIPA thing is officially dead though.  When you have Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich saying the law is against freedom or whatever in a Republican debate, you know it's over.  The only thing that kind of surprised me about this whole thing was how much of a tool Chris Dodd is now.  He went from doing good things to reform Wall Street to being the head of the MPAA spear-heading this insanely ridiculous law.  Definitely the definition of a sell out.
