Saved By the Bell

Okay, who watched/watches this? C'mon, admit it.

I was recommended this series by my friend, Mike, over the phone. He didn't mention what it was about. I thought it was about firefighters. Being a fan of "The Real Ghostbusters", I checked it out.

The first episode that I saw was a syndicated rerun (on WGN, I believe) on a weekday afternoon. It's the one where Screech gets the power to see the future.

Anyway, I was hooked. I followed the gang all of the way through graduation and college. I watched the 2 movies and even (*shudder*) The New Class.

The series is basically a live-action cartoon. It's a squeaky-clean, child-like vision of what high school will be like (with plenty of WTF? moments throughout).

I bet that you could take any given "Saved By the Bell" episode, do some minor tweaking, and have an Archie comic.

Betty Cooper + Cheryl Blossom. It's inevitable.

I watched the earliest ones where it was just Zach, Lisa, Screech, Mr. Belding, Mikey and Miss Bliss (yay, Hailey Mills!). I even watched up 'til they went to college but, I only ever saw ... 2 episodes, maybe, of The New Class (with Screech as Mr. Belding's assistant). I guess that I'd just outgrown it by then, but, that can't be right, 'cause I've seen the odd video on YouTube or re-run on t.v.

I'm a little old for these shows, but my daughter is 7 and starting to become more interested in the Disney/WB/etc. shows that are out there.

I'm especially interested in shows that are age appropriate for her and still hold her interest.

I do think the guy that played "Skreetch" was in a celebrity boxing match recently.  Sad.

Ah. That series was originally called "Good Morning, Miss Bliss", and it aired on Disney. After the move to NBC and a rename/revamp, these old episodes were shown with the SBtB theme song and introductions by Zack, saying these were stories from his junior high year. They tried to make it look like a "lost season" of SBtB, despite all of the continuity problems in mashing them together.

Kind of like those Betty and Veronica intro pages prior to Little Betty and Little Veronica stories, where they're looking at a photo album.

Nah. It's just that The New Class was stupid.

I watched SBTB.  I also watched the New Class too, but only because I had a huge crush on Sarah Lancaster at the time.  When she left, I did too. ;)

I admit that SBTB did provide the springboards for some people's careers like Mark-Paul Gosselaar and Mario Lopez.  We won't discuss Dustin Diamond. ;)

Captain - an excellent plan. I'd be content not to discuss Elizabeth Berkley either, but, I'm sure there are guys who would disagree with that decision.  :P

I loved Saved by the bell. Sometimes It still comes on tv I think tbs or something. I had the biggest crush on ZACH!! I still think hes hott, even on the shows he plays in now.

I think Screech (something diamond). IS nasty and washed up, and needs to get a life. He has done alot of mean, gross, pathetic things. On celebrity fit club. He was mean to everyone on that show. And told everyone about his "video". And also he tried to sell tshirts to "save his house".
Its really sad, I used to like his character, but when I look at it now. I'm like. UGh.
Sorry lol for the rant

The part about his house was all a lie... but, let's not talk about that. ^_^

Albert Clifford "A.C." Slater - Mario Lopez
Lisa Turtle - Lark Voorhies
Zachary "Zack" Morris - Mark Paul Gosselaar
Samuel "Screech" Powers - Dustin Diamond
Jessie Spano - Elizabeth Berkley
Kelly Kapowski - Tiffani Amber Thiessen

This was the most memorable class cast for me, though, again, I did watch the college years, when they were at the beach, and the early ones with Hayley Mills as Ms. Bliss.

Then there were the "Tori episodes".

Basically, all of the senior year episodes with Kelly and Jesse were filmed, followed by the Hawaiian Style movie. You'll notice that they're quite visibly more mature in it, despite it taking place, chronologically, in the Summer before senior year.

TPTB decided to film more episodes, but Tiffani-Amber and Elizabeth didn't wanna come back, so they added this Tori girl.

The episodes were aired out of sequence, so, whenever Tori was around, the cast looked visibly more mature, Lisa has a different hairstyle, and Kelly and Jesse were assumed to be in other classes, off-camera.

Somehow, this resulted in the gang having 2 senior proms. Yeah, continuity wasn't the best.

It also explains Tori's absence from the graduation episode.

Yeah, I remember Miss Bliss.  I'm also a huge Hayley Mills fan.

In fact, if there were an Archie movie, don't you think Hayley could play a great Ms. Grundy?

Wasn't "Tori", a triplet? Not the character, but the actress?

I also didn't particularly like when Tori Spelling was on the show as Screech's girlfriend, Violet. Blargh. >_<

I had always wondered why there were episodes from 1992, when the graduation episode was taped in 1991. :p

You know.  I've never seen an episode in my life.  I actually lived in the mountains from 1988-1993 and didn't watch TV from then until about 1996/7.

(it's nothing weird.  I lived in resort towns and just didn't have a TV because I was mountain biking and hiking).

How could I have missed it :(

Yeah.  Leanna Creel played Tori, but she is a triplet, with her other sisters being named Monica and Joy.

And, on a related note, don't you find it odd that Tori Spelling and Tiffani-Amber Thiessen would later appear on Beverly Hills 90210 years later?
