  • Jabroniville: Yeah, that's odd- Thor usually has the Hammer out in front. Though I don't think it's ever explained how he can throw it while in mid-flight and not just plummet like a goof. I wish artists would stop having him do things like that :)

Things you collect other than Archie memorabilia
« on: February 18, 2010, 10:54:35 PM »
My apologies if this topic has been posted before.

So, I think it's fair to say that a lot of us have sizeable collections of Archie comics, or else we wouldn't be here.

But, does anyone else collect other things other than the books?

In my case, I used to collect buttons...even had the official Archie Club member button way back when!

I also have a massive collection of pens.  Mostly gel pens.  In fact, I tend to annoy my workplace cohorts by purposely bringing a new pen colour to work everyday.  I guess you can call me the Veronica Lodge of office supplies.   :2funny:

What else do you collect?

I collect other comic books, stationery, toys and games. I used to collect DVDs as well but now I have too many so I buy them less often.

My interests are split between music and comics.  For music, it's a quirky mix of 50's teen stars, 60's rock, spanish rock, brazilian rock bands, some new wave artists, current alt rock, and just too many varied categories to name.

For comics, it's Archie, Marvel humor from the 1940's such as Millie the Model, Hedy, Patsy Walker, Donald Duck, Archie comics from Mexico, Little Lulu and others.  Thank goodness for ebay.  It made it so much easier to locate things from other countries.

Just a mixed variety of genres overall.

In addition to collecting Archies, I also collect records. I currently have around 630-something records (counting double-albums and box sets as single records), with at least one record from pretty much every decade of the 1900s.

Pictures of my collection can be found here. If you look closely you can spy some Archies in a few of the photos ;)

I collect a few things, but there are some rules regarding each, which I'll note.

I collect action figures but only regarding female characters: Lara Croft,. Chun-Li, Sonya Blade, Arcee, Sailor Senshi, Winx Club, etc. They're all sitting pretty unorganized on two levels of my night stand currently. When I can get them properly organized and standing, I'll take pictures and post them.

I have a few misc. non-Archie comics held over from my previous collection, such as Sisterhood of Steel, Dakota North Investigations, etc. These are incomplete.

I collect music CDs, mostly 1980s and mostly by female artists. Of course, there are exceptions. A sample would be Bangles, Go-Go's, Belinda Carlisle, Kate Price, Laura Powers, Billy Idol, Sheryl Crow, Marie Digby, Yoko Ishida, and a few soundtrack albums. My most prized are some soundtracks from a 2-episode hentai series from the 1990s. An aquaintance bid on them for me from Yahoo! Japan Auctions. I got them from her, still wrapped in Japanese newspaper! I so want to collect Kumi Miyasato's albums (heck, I'll even take tapes and vinyl records, just to be a completist). If anyone can order these for me, it'd be much appreciated.

I collect video games.

I collect DVDs, mostly anime, super-hero movies, etc. I don't have many western TV series or comedies, since they don't interest me too much (with a few exceptions, usually an actor such as Sandra Bullock or Jennifer Garner).

Betty Cooper + Cheryl Blossom. It's inevitable.

Stationery, stickers and, I used to collect coloring books, but, now I color pretty exclusively with the computer. And, since I've got 3 of them, I'll go ahead and say I collect cats (and fish too, for that matter!)

Comics:

Have a lot left over from when I was more into it in the 90's, mostly X-Men, Captain America, and Sonic the Hedgehog

Currently, I'm collecting graphic novels.  Mostly some Batman related titles and some Dark Horse ones like Empowered.

Anime/Manga:

I've got a ton anime DVDS.  The collection skews towards pretty much anything shoujo-ai, but I have lots of other scifi and adventure related titles too.  Older fanservice OVAS are also a big guilty pleasure on mine.

I have less manga, but my favorites are Hayate X Blade and Cyborg 009.

Other Movies/TV on DVD and Blu-Ray:

I have a ton of horror DVDs and Blu-rays, most of them are of the European variety such as Dario Argento's films.  I'm big on John Carpenter and George Romero though.  Definitley the best US horror directors.

Some cartoons including Totally Spies and Josie and the Pussycats.  I also like adult oriented animation such as Fire & Ice and Heavy Metal.

Music:

Tons of CDs of oldschool and underground hip hop.  My favorite MCs of all time are Kool Keith, MF Doom, and Charlie Brown from Leaders of the New School.

I also have a ton of anime OSTs/vocal collections and collect movie sound tracks.  My favorites are the ones by Goblin, the Italian prog rock band, and John Carpenter.

Videogames:

I like classic NES and Sega Genesis games and still play them using my Yobo FC3 Plus.

Used to collect:

I used to collect Transformers and action figures, mostly werestling related, but I decided to stop several years ago.  It was kind of a money drain I could use for more entertaining stuff, and I ran out of shelf space some time ago that's needed for other stuff. XD
