  • Jabroniville: Yeah, that's odd- Thor usually has the Hammer out in front. Though I don't think it's ever explained how he can throw it while in mid-flight and not just plummet like a goof. I wish artists would stop having him do things like that :)

What anime are you watching?
« on: January 29, 2012, 01:29:16 AM »
Thought I would make this thread since I'm always watching something.  Just list and discuss the anime your watching currently.  Only thing I will say is please try to avoid posting explicit spoilers.

Right now, I'm watching El Cazador de la Bruja.  I got it on DVD as a Christmas present.  It's the third in a thematic trilogy from studio Bee Train.  The first two are Noir and Madlax.  About two thirds of the way through now.  I think I actually like this more than Noir and Madlax though, just becuase the main characters are so adorable.  Very fun show and the slow reveal with the plot is very interesting.

Last anime I finished before this was Venus Versus Virus, which I also loved just because of the storyline with the two strong female leads.  Not to spoil it, but it kind of had an "Utena ending," but I still liked it a lot.  Pretty exciting plot and some nice twists.

High School of the Dead is one I plan on getting around to eventually.  May be a while though, I have a decent backlog of shows right now.  lol

Can't really suggest anything like them, though, because I haven't seen either of those yet.

Saw the first few episodes of One Piece recently, nice anime but I can never hold myself to a series.

I think One Piece is too long for me to even care.  Last I heard, the manga-ka made it sound like the manga won't be finished for another ten years or something ridiculous.  Same thing with Bleach I think.

True, I don't think they will ever find One Piece. I doubt that the series has a plot even.

They will, it probably just won't happen in the manga for ten more years.  lol

"Fighting Spirit", known in Japan as "Hajime no Ippo". It somehow makes a Shonen anime (which I normally HATE) out of pro boxing, and makes it AWESOME. All the characters are wonderful, everyone's a well-rounded character that gets development over time, and you're left actually LIKING most of Ippo's opponents. Ippo isn't just another Invincible Shonen Hero, either.

It can be a pain watching anime series sometimes. Some of them never really seem to end so lately I've been sticking to movies but as for series, I loved Fullmetal Alchemist, Death Note, Slamdunk, Detective Conan, Dragonball/Dragonball Z, Cowboy Bebop. I used to love Pokemon but I still don't get how Ash hasn't won any leagues yet and I only really liked Season 1 and 2 of it.

I've only watched a few movies but I loved Grave of the Fireflies, Tokyo Godfathers, Howl's Moving Castle, Laputa, Perfect Blue.

Pokemon's kind of weird. I mean...Team Rocket is actually competant. I mean, I'm used to seeing them get blasted off every episode, but they're actually somewhat successful now.

I just really liked the concept of it during the first generation Pokemon. After that, I don't watch it anymore so I totally have no idea what's going on haha

I finished El Cazador a while ago, and now I'm watching Slayers Evolution-R.  Really, hilarious and I'm loving it completely.  Definitely feels like a direct continuation of Slayers, which is a god-send to me since I loved the old episodes.  Hopefully, they get the creative team back for more seasons at some point!  Having all the old dub actors return was great as well.

I'm not an expert on anime, but I'm sure any fan of sci-fi would enjoy the Shinzo (also known as Mushrambo). It's a little full of fighting for my taste, but I love the plot and it brings back some interesting memories from the stories I have written, so I love it. :) The series is posted on youtube for anyone interested.

I usually don't stick to an anime series that's longer than a couple of seasons. (I love One Piece, but I have too little time on my hands to actually try and watch the whole thing.) The one I'm currently following is Okami-san and her Seven Companions. I just finished Trigun and Toradora! some time ago, along with Princess Jellyfish and Arakawa Under the Bridge. I tend to look up all types of anime, so don't be surprised if you haven't heard of most of these. Anime movies are Ghost in the Shell, Grave of the Fireflies and The Cat Returns.
When it comes to food Archie Comics, I'm an expert.
