  • Jabroniville: Yeah, that's odd- Thor usually has the Hammer out in front. Though I don't think it's ever explained how he can throw it while in mid-flight and not just plummet like a goof. I wish artists would stop having him do things like that :)

  • Steveinthecity: @Biolante:  Thor uses the hammer to fly. He can throw his hammer during flight and float in one spot until the hammer returns to him. Don't know what Joe Q. was thinking there. I've never seen Thor fly on his own.

What else do you collect?
« on: September 03, 2008, 02:09:33 PM »
I thought it might be fun to hear about what other folks collect and what their hobbies are.  So I've started two new threads.

What else do you collect? (besides comics/Archie stuff)

Here's some of mine:

1:400 scale die-cast airplanes
Stamps
Geo-coins (part of a game called Geocaching)

There are other things I "seem" to collect (like video games, CD's, DVD's, etc), but I don't really formalize them into any organized manner like the above)
No matter where I go, there I am.  Creepy.

This might be a double post, but I also like to collect books. Not really collecting, just buying, reading and treasuring!

I'm not really much of a collector, but I own about 300 DVDs and hundreds (exact number is unknown) of automotive magazines (Motor Trend, Car & Driver, Automobile and Road & Track), some of them dating back from 1992.

I collect Megos, various Batman and Robin things, and various Teen Titans things. A lot of the items in my collection are action figures.

Lots of different stuff... Comics (Archie and other stuff...)

Action figures... the odd statue or mini-bust

Books, tho it's mostly that I keep the books that I buy and read. Same with DVD's and CD's.

I guess you could say I collect scarves.  I wear a scarf in my hair nearly every day and I am known for having one to match every conceivable outfit, so people have started giving them to me as presents, and now I have several dozens.

anime DVDs
Transformers DVDs (I need the out-of-print Season 3, Part 2, set)
female character action figures (Lara Croft, Supergirl, Emma Frost, Elektra, Catwoman, etc.)
music CDs (focusing on 1980s and J-Pop)

Betty Cooper + Cheryl Blossom. It's inevitable.

Used to collect tons of comics (had the major portion of stuff DC and Marvel put out from the Silver Age to the 80's, plus tons of stuff before and after that), records, books, and movies on VHS and DVD.  But the comics and some of the other stuff got sold off when I was between jobs.  I've replaced a lot with downloads, which are a lot easier to store.

Let me see...

I have around

400 VHS (at one time I had over 1,000) over
300 Laser Disc, must also be over
300 DVD but I'm slowing down, hate when I pay $15-$20 for a DVD and don't end up watching it before watching the price fall! Now Unless its a no brainer must have I have to promise myself, I'll watch it within 7 days of purchase or I can wait. Its worked I've cut my DVD buying probably by 2/3!

DC Archive editions, lots of golden age, (including all of the Spirit of course!)select silver
I'm also collecting the Complete Peanuts library!
Loads and loads of Disney (all over the house, except one room) Our favorite Disney collections are Stitch (mine) Beauty and the Beast (ours) Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (the wifes)

I also have a few non Archie comics, like many of the Peanuts comic book appearances, all 17 issues of the Monkees and a complete Tippy Teen collection (though thats almost Archie!)

:)

I'm a fanatic over The Spirit as well - the Archives are great!  I've collected all the Marvel Masterworks and am just starting the DC Archives (except The Spirit - have those, couldn't wait).  The challenge with DC for me is that I find/found it hard to get into.  It seems to have so much history and self-reference that I can't seem to "pick it up".  The Showcase Presents have helped a LOT.   Now into the Archives!

(I'm also a Duck and Mouse collector) - BIG time.
No matter where I go, there I am.  Creepy.
