  • Steveinthecity: When Thor pulls the hammer back to throw, his momentum stops. He has always been able to float or hover once airborne, and he'll remain until the hammer comes back to him.  I guess the winds keep him aloft.

  • Biollante: ok so shouldn't Joe Quesada know that? lol  It made him look a bit stupid imo.

  • Jabroniville: Yeah, that's odd- Thor usually has the Hammer out in front. Though I don't think it's ever explained how he can throw it while in mid-flight and not just plummet like a goof. I wish artists would stop having him do things like that :)

  • Steveinthecity: @Biolante:  Thor uses the hammer to fly. He can throw his hammer during flight and float in one spot until the hammer returns to him. Don't know what Joe Q. was thinking there. I've never seen Thor fly on his own.

  • Biollante: Joe Quesada was drawing Thor on some Disney promo, and he drew him flying with his hammer on his side, now I'm not a Thor junkie, but isn't that actualy inaccurate, doesn't he fly by being dragged by his hammer???

I always thought they were from upper state California like San Francisco.
does San Francisco have snow??

...From when I lived there (moved to slightly southern Santa Cruz a couple months back) , one time , when there was a tiny bit of snow on more or less the highest hillpoint in a park at the very outer boundaries of San Francisco , it was a front page headline in the San Francisco Chronicle...so I'd say " rare , yeah " !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  ;D :D :2funny:

Well, San Francisco is in Northern California, and the city is one of the colder ones in California, but if there is snow there, I would think it's a rarity...

It could also be a Boston Brahmin accent:

Mr. Lodge has just such an accent on "Archie's Weird Mysteries":

This fits in with Veronica's early history as a "Boston sub-deb".

We might never know why Veronica was given a southern accent on the old radio show, but it was carried over into the Filmation series and even made it into early episodes of AWM before being dropped. See this clip:

Thanks for the links! I do remember seeing an early episode of AWM and hearing Veronica talk like a southern belle. They got rid of it a few episodes in. What made that more confusing was that at the time they had The New Archies on Toon Disney (reruns, of course), and she had one of those valley girl accents.

I personally always envisioned Hiram as sounding like a Texas oil tycoon myself. That's probably why in my youth I thought they might have been Southerners.

Betty Cooper + Cheryl Blossom. It's inevitable.
