About 4 years ago, I started giving out comics at Halloween - it's especially easy now because the comic companies are making little "Halloween" comics that are pretty inexpensive. (Archie, Gemstone .. this year there is even a Peanuts book, but I tend to stick to Archie's, Ducks, and standard super-heros)

I also buy 10-20 regular comics for those kids that are especially polite or nicely costumed.  This year I ordered extras of Betty and Veronica's Spectacular with the Halloween cover for this.

I've had parents comment on how much the kids love the comics and how much they appreciate just a little less sugar in their kids hands (okay....I also give out a little chocolate with each comic - I fear being attacked by the illiterate).

Anyone else doing this?  If not, and if you want to, you probably need to tell your local comic shop really soon that you want to order the halloween special books (make sure they understand they are the packages that are cheap).  Getting them elsewhere or by chance is harder to do.

To me, it'd be a bit too expensive to try it...although, it might be a cool idea to throw some in the loot bags I give out to my nieces and nephews.  At this point though, the closest I'd ever get to handing out comics would be giving out Bazooka Joe bubble gum with the comics inside.

Interesting idea. I may look into this.
