To add to what I'd already said, why would Veronica go through the trouble? When she takes control of Lodge Enterprises, she can reformat it to whatever kind of company that she wants.

Maybe Veronica is ticked that Betty reads Cheryl's teenzine, so she starts her own to lure her friend over to her side and cost Cheryl 1 reader.
