  • Steveinthecity: When Thor pulls the hammer back to throw, his momentum stops. He has always been able to float or hover once airborne, and he'll remain until the hammer comes back to him.  I guess the winds keep him aloft.

  • Jabroniville: Yeah, that's odd- Thor usually has the Hammer out in front. Though I don't think it's ever explained how he can throw it while in mid-flight and not just plummet like a goof. I wish artists would stop having him do things like that :)

  • Steveinthecity: @Biolante:  Thor uses the hammer to fly. He can throw his hammer during flight and float in one spot until the hammer returns to him. Don't know what Joe Q. was thinking there. I've never seen Thor fly on his own.

ARCHIE COMICS AVAILABLE NOW ON iPHONE and iPOD Touch!

See How It All Began With a Free Issue of Archie Freshman Year!

For the past 65 years you’ve only been able to read Archie Comics one way – on paper. Today that all changes. Archie Comics and iVerse Media are proud to announce that Archie has gone digital and the first Archie Comics iPhone Apps are available for download now! Experience Archie Andrews’ very first day of school at Riverdale High as he deals with bullies, best friends, and a love triangle that even tenth-grade geometry can’t solve! Now you can download the first issue of ARCHIE Freshman Year through the iTunes App Store — for free!

“Archie is one of the characters that define comics. When people think of comic books they typically think of superheroes and Archie. We’re very excited to bring such a great, family friendly, line of comics to the iPhone.” said iVerse Media CEO, Michael Murphey. “What has impressed us the most is how forward thinking the team at Archie Comics have been. The Digital Age of Comics is here, and Archie is leading the way.”

Originally published in Archie #587, FRESHMAN YEAR #1 is just the first in a 5-issue story arc, and is a perfect starting point for new Archie fans, and existing readers. Also available is ARCHIE FRESHMAN YEAR #2 (Archie #588) for just 99-cents to download straight to your iPhone or iPod Touch! And keep your eyes peeled for the next three issues of ARCHIE Freshman Year coming soon!

With art by Bill Galvan and a dramatic storyline from writer Batton Lash, you’ve just got to see what their first days of high school were really like!

"This is a great opportunity for getting our comics out to the millions of Archie fans worldwide. Michael Murphey and his team at iVerse are doing a tremendous job. iVerse is the perfect partner to bring Archie into the digital age." Jon Goldwater, CEO of Archie Comics, went on to say, "We feel that with iVerse, Archie will attract new readers like never before, while offering a new and exciting way for our long-time fans to enjoy our comics. So whether you roll up your Archie comic in your back pocket or take it with you on your iPod, everything's Archie!"

Look for even more great downloads of your favorite Archie books like Little Archie, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Young Salem, and, Katy Keene along with some new surprises coming soon and only available from Archie Comics and iVerse Media! Check it all out now at www.iversecomics.com/archie

Except for the DVDs.

haha!  :)

I'll try it out, but digital comics are NOT something I enjoy.  Yet...I'm an old guy - so maybe the "new" generation will like them?  I love technology, but sometimes it seems like trying to fit the wrong foot into a small shoe.
No matter where I go, there I am.  Creepy.

Hey!  Thanks!  It's free.  I'm downloading it on my iTouch right now.

So what did you think, Frank? I think that the format of Archie, (three tiered paneled pages) works pretty cool. I was really jazzed that they chose Freshman Year to kick the thing off with!

Offline Frank

I enjoyed reading the story on the iTouch much more than I expected I would.

Having the images scroll sideways and just "flicking" through the pages was easy and made things very readable.

BUT.... :)

One of the things I really liked about the originals were some of the wide-angle, splash pages that took an aerial view of the scene.  These were, as you can expect, lost on the small screen and "cut-up" for the story to be told.  So that was a little sad.

Over-all, I can definitely see reading more comics on the iTouch than I thought I would.  I'd love to see some reprint editions of comic strip material presented for iTouch viewing.  Right now I am reading a LOT of the old 1920-1970 comic strip reprint books that are out there and it would be great to be able to buy these on my iTouch.
No matter where I go, there I am.  Creepy.

Oh - I'll also add:

The colours on the iTouch are eye-popping.  Very, very nice.  Everything looks very bright and very nice.
There is no easy way to scroll back to the start - you have to flip all pages one at a time.  The main spash page (which is so nice!) was cut-up and so the start of the story came across a little "rough"
No matter where I go, there I am.  Creepy.

ga!

Okay.  I also went to buy the second "issue" and, as it is an "App" you cannot buy it here in Canada without a credit card - I have a few dozen dollars in Apple credit from the iTunes cards, but you cannot use iTunes card credit to buy Apps in Canada - you can only use credit card. (so now I have to do that)
No matter where I go, there I am.  Creepy.
