  • Steveinthecity: When Thor pulls the hammer back to throw, his momentum stops. He has always been able to float or hover once airborne, and he'll remain until the hammer comes back to him.  I guess the winds keep him aloft.

  • Biollante: ok so shouldn't Joe Quesada know that? lol  It made him look a bit stupid imo.

  • Jabroniville: Yeah, that's odd- Thor usually has the Hammer out in front. Though I don't think it's ever explained how he can throw it while in mid-flight and not just plummet like a goof. I wish artists would stop having him do things like that :)

  • Steveinthecity: @Biolante:  Thor uses the hammer to fly. He can throw his hammer during flight and float in one spot until the hammer returns to him. Don't know what Joe Q. was thinking there. I've never seen Thor fly on his own.

That Jughead and Friends cover looks so cool!  You've done a great job on it, Fernando!

Thanks! Much of the credit for that cover goes to the legendary inker, Bob Smith, and the really under-appreciated master of coloring and computer effects, Tito.

I hope you guys give this issue a shot. If you read only one ARCHIE comic this year make sure this is the one! Not only do you have Jughead in one of his most surreal adventures ever, but you get to see him in action with many of the behind-the-scenes Archie crew.

Lucky for you Fernando -- and the rest of the Archie creators-- most of us here are rabid fans. We'd rather do something we can't stand -- LIKE YARDWORK!!! >:( >:( >:( :D ;D-- than miss ANY Archie comic or digest (manga Sabrina and Sonic not withstanding.)

Besides with such a cool cover, how could we not want to get it??? :)

A lot of those special effects you see on that cover are all Tito. The folds in Jughead's shirts, the retro dot pattern over the background panels, and touches like the highlights on Jughead are the result of Tito's photoshop wizardry. I just got my copy of this issue this past week and I'm pretty happy with how it looks.

A tip of the hat and a big salute also has to go out to that Icon of Ideas, Digest Editor Nelson Ribiero for coming up with the whole idea! His flunkies, Carlos and Adam, are nice guys too.
