  • Jabroniville: Yeah, that's odd- Thor usually has the Hammer out in front. Though I don't think it's ever explained how he can throw it while in mid-flight and not just plummet like a goof. I wish artists would stop having him do things like that :)

I am so totally LOVIN' that new Jughead story for the art to the story to EVERYTHING seriously can't wait for it!! And I see the Love is Nasty story ends in B&V # 182 (the Reggie and Cheryl story), I though it would continue to this digest. (I have # 182 just haven't read it yet!)

I'm digging the artwork in Jughead

Offline Captain Hero

I like the Jughead art...even though Reggie looks like he would have auditioned for a part in "That 70's Show".  Can't wait to see the finished product.

But, I gotta tell you...unless the ending is totally unexpected, the B&V leading story is nothing original...

Offline LLawlit

OMG Reggie does look like he walked off of "That 70s Show"

Offline Ginny

With me the jury's still out about the new look in the Jughead DD comic.
If life is just a stage, let's put on the best show

Offline darkmark

I think the "new look" Jughead is interesting as a contrast with the usual Archie style.  For that reason, I also liked the work on "Bad Boy Trouble"...it breaks up the usual house style and gives us a chance to see the Riverdale crew in a new interpretation.  Hope this one works out.

Offline Zach T

Definitely diggin' the Jughead DD.

I will, for the record, agree with some of the others that Reggie has that 70s' look. It's just not my cup of tea.
Zach uses:

Guitars: Washburn WV16 (shown in display pic), Cort X6, Godin BG5 5-string bass, Squire P-Bass, Squire P-Bass Special

Equipment: Ashdown Engineering, Marshall, Smokey Amplification, EMG, Seymour Duncan, DiMarzio, BOSS, EHX, Digitech, Ibanez, Jim Dunlop, Ernie Ball Strings

Jughead's Pseudo World Tour (rated T+) (Pt.7 posted 20-12-08)

A situation like this should never exist - then why are we out of control?

Offline Captain Hero

Good!  So, I'm not completely nuts in noticing the 70's connection!  He kind of looks like Ashton Kutcher's character! :)

Offline Gregg

Just noticed something else as well. When the cover pic was first shown here, there were anchovies on the pizza. They're gone now!!! Maybe someone at ArchieCo read the thread about odd tidbits of knowledge here and realized that Jughead hates anchovies. :)

As far as the art goes, I'm more familiar with Joe Staton's work (E-Man, Green Lantern, Millenium, Guy Gardner) than Steven Butler's, but I've enjoyed all of this experimentation with the characters looks. Keep it up, Archie Co. If you go by the Archie paperbacks-- which these "new-look" stories seemed to be based on--  we have 10 more unique looks to look forward to.

Wow, Gregg. Good eye! I didn't know that about Jughead, but, well, I guess this fills my "you-learn-something-new-every-day" quota! :2funny:

I think it would be quite interesting if there were some guest artists as well who submitted their take on an Archie story - perhaps not even a multiple page, but, rather a multiple panel showcase of their styles applied to the Riverdalians(?).

Somehow, knowing that these are *just* 1-shot stories, that the entire comic isn't done only in these new styles, and that the comics will resume their regular look, makes these deviations from the norm a bit easier to accept. For me at least. :)

Reggie does look like he's came from the 70's...and it seems more interesting in the comic instead of just glancing at the covers all the time. I am so getting this this month!
When it comes to food Archie Comics, I'm an expert.

Will be interesting to see how the Jughead story works out. I do agree that the B&V story isn't really all that new - there have been several similar stories over the years (although they usually involve Betty making her own dress from a picture in a fashion magazine, rather than buying it herself).

Yeah, the duplicate-dress story has been done before, but, I always like how Betty manages to pull something remarkable together. There was a story where both Betty and Veronica were wearing a red dress with polka-dots and Veronica closed Betty's dress in the locker(?) or something so that it ripped... and Betty just sewed a little slit in the side - a bit risque! My favorite "Betty-makes-something" stories have been the one where Veronica asks Betty to make her a unique bathing suit, which turns out as being the same fabric Betty's used to make swim trunks for the local cub scouts(?), and another story where Veronica has a dress made of paper, and Betty fashions her own paper dress out of Veronica's love notes.

I remember the one where Betty fixed the ripped dress, and also the one with the boy scouts (classic Archie humor there), but I don't think I've ever seen the one about the dress made out of love notes. Either way, Veronica's evil plans always seem to backfire on her (especially if Reggie is involved), so it should end up good for Betty :)
