Lol they should just make different issues for Archie marrying almost every person in Riverdale. I would definitely like to see how that works out o_o

But I'm cool with this one :) his relationship with Valerie seems a little less juvenile than the relationship he had with Betty and Veronica. (Please don't get mad at me.)

Next, Archie will marry Kevin! Now, that would be an awesome headline!

As long as Archie doesn't marry Jughead, I'll be happy; there were too many rumors (in fanzines, usually) or accusations of Juggie's sexual preferences for my liking so if he had turned out to be gay, I would''ve been pretty upset.  Basically, Jughead does like girls but has trouble showing it, and with his best friend being girl crazy, he knows that sort of thing just isn't for him, spending his money and running hither and yon (Jughead doesn't have a car; he borrows Archie's car, he's totalled Reggie's car, and he occasionally borrows his dad's car or drives it in emergencies).

There were those sorts of rumors about another favorite character of mine (Jericho of New Teen Titans) but it's just too easy to make a slightly oddball, sensitive character turn out to be gay.

I have gay friends; I just don't like characters who have never shown a real preference to the same sex suddenly declare "I'm gay!"  And I really can't see Juggie ever being on RuPaul's Drag Race, either . . . .

I remember Marv Wolfman & George Perez discussing making Jericho gay, but both felt it was too cliche to have the "Sensitive Artist Guy" be the gay one. Their "Teen Titans" run was phenomenal regardless, even IF they basically drew themselves in as Donna Troy's husband :).

Personally, I see Jughead secretly liking girls as a total retcon of the character.  I think earlier management were nervous about him being perceived as gay, so that was one of the reasons for that.  Perhaps writers played around with subtext of that suggestion earlier, but they also did the same for making Jughead seem gay a few times as well.  I don't see that as a thing the fans were only responsible for.  Over all, I could see Jughead as being more asexual than anything else.  They should maybe stop trying to force heterosexual norms on him when he started out as more of a counter-cultural rebel in a way.

Quote
I have gay friends; I just don't like characters who have never shown a real preference to the same sex suddenly declare "I'm gay!"

It mirrors the oppression in actual society in a way.  That's why people have to "come out."  Don't really think there's anything technically wrong with that or inaccurate.  Most times I get annoyed for opposite reasons.  Like every character has to be assumed to be straight, unless they were announced as gay from day one (and even then they usually try to still make them heterosexual some how).  Fans also have a super hard time conceptualizing bi-sexuality.  I don't really get that.  I probably have more friends that are bi-sexual than straight.
