• BettyReggie: Did anyone hear last week's Archie Andrews show? It was so funny.

  • Magic Necromancer: true it's not much compared to some big time comic lists but i try to reduce the cost so my dad doesn't lecture me about spending too much dough on comics
    Yesterday at 07:56:00 PM
  • DeCarlo Rules: $46 is not that much.  I work a part-time job 18-20 hours/week, JUST to pay for my comics... of course that includes some high-priced hardcovers almost every week.

  • Magic Necromancer: man if i can get out of april without breaking the bank on comics I'll be happy...according to Tfaw.com my next package is gonna total in at $46.....i get my comics once a month

  • Steveinthecity: Sounds like a cool selection of stories in that digest. I'll have to grab that one. Although smaller, Funhouse #12 had a pretty good mix, though it was all Archie related, one Josie story(20+ pages).

  • DeCarlo Rules: I don't know why, but they really took the time to make this one special. It's sort of a Jumbo mini-crash course in Archie Comics history.
    March 30, 2015, 11:35:50 PM
  • DeCarlo Rules: Did I mention that Archie's in it too? With all that other stuff, I'm almost surprised they found the room.
    March 30, 2015, 11:33:54 PM
  • Archie Comics Collector: I hope they will do more Jumbo Comics like this in the future.
    March 30, 2015, 11:31:34 PM
  • DeCarlo Rules: OK, I guess they missed Super Duck, Suzie, Ginger, and Pat the Brat this time around, too. But it's the most well-rounded anthology I think I've ever seen.
    March 30, 2015, 11:25:26 PM
  • DeCarlo Rules: About the only thing they didn't manage to cram in there was a story with the Mighty Crusaders.
    March 30, 2015, 11:23:09 PM
  • DeCarlo Rules: And of course, a few by Harry Lucey, Dan DeCarlo, Stan Goldberg, Bob Bolling, Bob White, Bob Montana, Dan Parent, Fernando Ruiz, Henry Scarpelli, Bill Golliher...
    March 30, 2015, 11:21:17 PM
  • DeCarlo Rules: They even managed to squeeze a story by Mark Waid in there.
    March 30, 2015, 11:18:17 PM
  • DeCarlo Rules: There is a little bit of "Everything Archie" in this digest... Superteen, Wilbur, Sabrina (from 3 different eras), Betty & Veronica, the Madhouse Glads, Josie, That Wilkin Boy, Cosmo the Merry Martian, Little Pureheart, Li'l Jinx, Life With Archie (both versions, from the 1960s and the 2010s), even a section of Bob Montana's daily newspaper strips from 1946!
    March 30, 2015, 11:16:31 PM
  • BettyReggie: I'll see all tomorrow.

If you ever wondered what Archie and Jughead were like as toddlers, a new graphic novel will answer all your questions. Archie Comics will publish the early adventures of the red-headed hero.
The Archie Babies graphic novel will carry $9.95 price tag. Mike Kunkel wrote the story and artist Art Mawhinney illustrated. The book goes on sale June 22.
Here’s more from the announcement: “See it all happen from the sandbox to the jungle gym as Baby Archie meets Baby Betty and Baby Veronica. Watch the friendship grow between Baby Archie and Baby Jughead. It’s every bit of the Archie fun you’ve come to expect in a cuter and smaller package.”

Funny- the company that basically invented the "whole gang as younger versions of themselves" concept with "Little Archie" is going all the way back. Are Betty & Veronica still gonna chase after Little Archie? And a whole graphic novel? That's a new idea.

I'm not super excited about this.  I'll check it out, but I can't really see the appeal - I never liked any "Babies" books (Muppet, Looney Tunes, Disney, etc).  It seems like a pretty limited field of stories to work with.
No matter where I go, there I am.  Creepy.

I'm definitely going to pass this up.  I like to stick to just regular teen Archie (and the grown-up one too I guess) with the OCCASIONAL little Archie.  But Archie babies....no thank you.  This is like the newest World of Archie where they meet the Tiny Titans or whatever.  I saw it at the newsstand where I usually buy my comics, but when half of the double digest was full of that, I immediately put it down.

I'm fine with this coming out as long as they don't try to "canonize" it.  I think the idea that all the character relationships existed while they were in diapers is a bit too ridiculous.

I'd be okay with it as long as they don't make it too much like a Rugrats clone.

Pass.

I much prefer the characters as very late teens or early twenties. Heck, I read a fairly recent (maybe a year or two old) story where Mr. Lodge's dialogue indicated Veronica was 16, and THAT'S too young for me.

Betty Cooper + Cheryl Blossom. It's inevitable.

The more I think of this, the worse of an idea I think it is.

First - what "baby" series has ever been successful in print?

Second - Who wants to read about babies?  *maybe* it would work on TV, but anyone that can read is probably beyond babies.

Maybe it's going to be marketed to really young children? LIke below 8.  I don't know. XD

Well maybe.  What age do kids start reading now?  My kids read baby books when they were.... Babies.  At about 4 years old, they got offended with anything "baby"

Wasn't that what the Little Archie title was for?

No, I don't think so.  Maybe the later ones, though.  I'm pretty sure it started out just to show what a younger version of Archie and the Gang would be like.

I have so many Archies, I've lost count!  :D

I really don't know what I think about this. I was never really into Little Archie so I doubt I will take to this as well.

I've always liked Little Archie - particularly the early Bob Bolling stories - but this seems rather silly at best.
