  • Jabroniville: Yeah, that's odd- Thor usually has the Hammer out in front. Though I don't think it's ever explained how he can throw it while in mid-flight and not just plummet like a goof. I wish artists would stop having him do things like that :)

  • Steveinthecity: @Biolante:  Thor uses the hammer to fly. He can throw his hammer during flight and float in one spot until the hammer returns to him. Don't know what Joe Q. was thinking there. I've never seen Thor fly on his own.

Fernando and I have been friends for years.  We're both Kubert School alumni ( Kubies).

And for a while there, we were both even on the Kubert School faculty together!

Trust Dan to deliver a good story, Folks. I know I'm biased but I think he's genuinely one of our best writers. I'll tell you why...

1. He's dialogue is sharp and very natural while at the same time funny and hip.

2. He uses a lot of pop culture references and parodies.

3. NO ONE writes a better Cheryl or Veronica. I don't know what it is, but Dan has a talent for handling girls with a mean streak.

I think his B&V Spectacular is consistently Archie's most eye-catching and attractive books.

I have to disagree here. I believe Holly Golightly wrote the best Cheryl.

And she certainly drew the best Cheryl.

Betty Cooper + Cheryl Blossom. It's inevitable.

Love the cover art on that Archie & Friends issue :D

Looking forward to all of this. I have a feeling I'll be hitting the comic shop and the magazine aisle at my local supermarket quite a bit in April :)

Oldiesmann - how are your local shops about continuity in issue releases? It seems as though I'm only ever able to buy every other issue from our not-so-nearby Borders. :(

And she certainly drew the best Cheryl.

This is were I have to disagree, to me Dan DeCarlo was the best at drawing her! Then of course comes Dan Parent (I know Tuxedo Mark is shaking his head right now lol) then Holly G! and the other artists (like Jeff Shultz, Fernando Ruiz, Stan Goldberg etc.) I don't know why, but Holly G!'s art had a manga-ish feel without it being a manga...
Archie Comics are my WHOLE life

One of the reasons I always liked Dan DeCarlo's work is because he really seemed to make the effort to understand the trends, concerns, and interests of the generation he was portraying.  This made his work topical and evoked a real sense on time and place - while still maintaining the traditional sense of character that the Archie's always were.

This is (again) my reason for enjoying Dan Parent art and story.  It's the sense of time and place with affection for the "gang".  His dialogue is relevant to today's times.

So I really like Dan DeCarlo's Cheryl of the 1980's and I really like Dan Parent's Cheryl of the 90's and 2000's.
No matter where I go, there I am.  Creepy.
