  • Jabroniville: Yeah, that's odd- Thor usually has the Hammer out in front. Though I don't think it's ever explained how he can throw it while in mid-flight and not just plummet like a goof. I wish artists would stop having him do things like that :)

  • Steveinthecity: @Biolante:  Thor uses the hammer to fly. He can throw his hammer during flight and float in one spot until the hammer returns to him. Don't know what Joe Q. was thinking there. I've never seen Thor fly on his own.

This will be Betty and Veronica's 595th issue (347 + 248). Does anyone think there's a point in renumbering the title to allow the girls to celebrate a 600th issue?

Ooooh, more Man From R.I.V.E.R.D.A.L.E. sounds great!  Anything that encourages more 'AU' stories is fine by me.

Dan Parent is the new Dan Decarlo. Those covers are fantastic.

Also, whoever is doing the new coloring for the Jeff Schultz covers is great. It adds a new dimension that really complements and enhances his work.

God job Archie comics!

They're changing the logos again?  It was only a year and a half ago since the last ones!

But, I do like that the Archie titles are going more traditional.
I guess it was an outcry of the fans. ;)

Good lineup. I expect to buy some of these issues.
When it comes to food Archie Comics, I'm an expert.

I do really like the covers by Dan Parent. He really knows how to make them eye-catching. The simplicity really works for the covers. I especially enjoyed this Jughead Double Digest cover and the previous one. Unfortunately I can't say the same thing about the interior art that he does. I think if he made the inside art more detailed I'd like it more but it's way too simple and takes me out of the stories.

Thanks you guys for the nice words.  It makes my fun job even more fun when it's working for appreciative fans like you.  You're all the reasons I have a job!  And thanks, Fernando for the kind words. Your work's  not too shabby either, mister!

DP, I've got a couple of your covers proudly hung on my wall.  I'm sorry B&V Spectacular isn't still around in print, since that format really gave your work the best treatment.  And you're right, Mr. Ruiz is certainly fine artist as well.  What you do in design and style, he does in animation and energy.

Okay, enough smooching.

All of these covers look great, and the best part is, that Man From R.I.V.E.R.D.A.L.E. issue comes out a week before my birthday. Sounds like I'll be hitting the comic shop to spend some birthday money :D

I was glad to see more vintage stories in some of the latest digests. The June Archie's Double Digest has some fine Harry Lucey stories, an insane "Life With Archie" adventure from the crazy '70s (Mr. Lodge is replaced by a robot), and best of all a late '50s Little Archie story by Bob Bolling (the one where Little Archie builds a Noah's ark).

The latest Jughead double with the Warhol cover also has a lot of vintage Samm Schwartz Jughead, though they're not fooling anyone by whiting out Ethel's buck teeth.

I totally agree. Thank you for bringing this up.

I prefer Dan's art style in the late 1990s / early 2000s. It was more detailed and DeCarlo-like.

His current style is...way too simple as you said.
