  • PixyJunket: I decided against it, would be $110 (ticket+commision) and almost two hours of driving. Commsion cost I am okay with, I'm not paying $50 to get in since I don't care about anything else there. I might drop off a few CB singles to my friend going to get signed, at least.

  • DeCarlo Rules: I know once and a while the discount code gets as high as 30%, (in addition to whatever items they might have discounted otherwise), but the standard digest subscription price is already something like 40-45% off the cover price. I debated how long I should wait, and then just took the plunge with a 20% off code... naturally, the very next week the discount code went up to 25%. When it gets to 30% or 40%, I may extend my subs by another 2 years or so.

  • PixyJunket: Do the general coupon codes for ArchieComics.com work for Digest subscriptions?
    May 28, 2015, 07:20:23 PM
  • DeCarlo Rules: No, you're right... if you DON'T own those "Best of" collections, those two Jumbo digests are must-haves... great stories, but fair warning for those that did buy TBoAC... but my point is, something happened there to cause those hastily-thrown together REreprints that don't match the solicitation descriptions for those issues.
    May 28, 2015, 06:09:59 PM
  • PixyJunket: There's also the "trigger warning" at the front of the book, so I guess that means everything is unaltered too. Combine that with the source information and you have a wonderful format for Digests to compliment the New Riverdale stuff.

  • DeCarlo Rules: @PixyJunket -- I wonder what's going on with these recent Jumbo digests. In the case of both Archie Jumbo Comics Digest #260 and B&V Jumbo Comics Digest #233, ALL of the contents are drawn from the BEST OF ARCHIE COMICS series paperback collections. No other content outside of that, and neither of those match the contents as originally solicited in advance.

Talking on a cellphone while the plane is in the air? I don't know who is worse - Archie for playing the field so shamelessly or Veronica for spying on him while she's away. They're both on the wrong side of the ledger in this story.

The sixties trade looks very promising, especially with that previewed story which I've never seen before!

Personally, I think Archie is creating more of a shameful act by calling Veronica "Lambchop"! ;D

Maybe Archie just had a fondness for sock-puppets and ventriloquist acts when he was younger? :2funny:

????It's just a term of endearment...I don't see anything wrong with it. You can call someone "Baby" and that does not mean you think that person an actual infant.

I get it...it just sounds kind of cheesy and dated!  I don't know too many 17 year olds who would text their girlfriends saying "I LUV U LAMB CHOP"! :2funny:

Exactly. It's cheesy and outdated (was it ever indated?). When I first read that line, I was like "WTF? No teenager talks like this."

Betty Cooper + Cheryl Blossom. It's inevitable.

I dunno... I could see Jughead saying this to girlfriend very easy-- maybe him smackin' his lips with a wide-eyed look at the same time!  :o ;D

I think that they should do a new story for all the "Best of..." books.

For the 60's - they should have "Archie meets Mr. Natural" or maybe "Archie meets the Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers"  - Do you think R. Crumb would do an Archie book?

:)

okay.   Bad idea..... really bad idea... :)
No matter where I go, there I am.  Creepy.

Okay, the Sherry Lewis & her puppet, Lambchop was obviously too obscure, too far a stretch, and too poor a joke! >_<

I got that it was a sock-puppet, Aya. :) I vaguely remember it.
