  • Biollante: probalby, but 59 percent is considered a "blow out" in political terms, some people are on shaky ground right now, there was evne a conservative pollset that worked for Bush warning people that if Republicans are against things like gay marriage in the near future, they would endure catastrophic losses, I don't know if it's this political cycle, but the paradigm shift already happened a while ago

  • Steveinthecity: When Thor pulls the hammer back to throw, his momentum stops. He has always been able to float or hover once airborne, and he'll remain until the hammer comes back to him.  I guess the winds keep him aloft.

  • Biollante: ok so shouldn't Joe Quesada know that? lol  It made him look a bit stupid imo.
    May 21, 2012, 07:57:37 AM
  • Jabroniville: Yeah, that's odd- Thor usually has the Hammer out in front. Though I don't think it's ever explained how he can throw it while in mid-flight and not just plummet like a goof. I wish artists would stop having him do things like that :)
    May 21, 2012, 07:23:13 AM
  • Steveinthecity: @Biolante:  Thor uses the hammer to fly. He can throw his hammer during flight and float in one spot until the hammer returns to him. Don't know what Joe Q. was thinking there. I've never seen Thor fly on his own.

“KISS has a comic book history that spans almost four decades…but it was time to do things better than ever before,” said KISS founder Gene Simmons. “What's bigger than two different companies sharing the KISS license? Archie and IDW will tell two unique and in-your-face tales of KISS, and we're thrilled to be working with them on these projects.”

KISS arrives in Riverdale this November in the pages of ARCHIE #627, which kicks off the four-part “ARCHIE MEETS KISS” storyline, written by Archie's own Executive Director of Publicity and Marketing, Alex Segura, and featuring art by Archie superstar Dan Parent. When one of Sabrina's spells goes awry and a cabal of monsters invade the town, the Archie gang and KISS join forces to try and save the day. Full of adventure, humor and – of course – rock, the story is certain to appeal to fans of the band and the Riverdale gang.

“We're ecstatic to team up with Gene, Paul and the entire KISS Army for this project,” said Archie Comics Co-CEO Jon Goldwater. “KISS is such a huge part of Americana and that goes hand-in-hand with Archie and friends. We're honored and excited to help bring KISS back to comics in a huge way.

IDW's plans for a series of KISS books will be revealed soon. More details at the link above.

Didn't they already meet Kiss when Betty entered and won a contest that allowed her to be a guest guitarist in the band's concert in Riverdale? Seriously, that was around 2005 or 2006.

Betty Cooper + Cheryl Blossom. It's inevitable.

Heh...maybe this issue will help my family understand why I'm such a fan of Archie.  They all love KISS.  Hell, maybe they'd end up reading it themselves!

I guess this is cool, but since Kiss has cameoed in pretty much everything at this point it seems a bit obvious.  On the other hand, the only rock band I'm actually a fan of is Goblin.  So I guess other people's mileage may vary.

Would be funnier if they did a crossover that was a bit less obvious and even more irrelavent.  What about the Wu Tang Clan?  Gza did an interview with MF Grimm where he just talked about how much he used to read Archice Comics sometime back, and they all supposedly were big comic book nerds back in the day.

I remember Betty wearing Kiss-like makeup.  It was like for a band competition.  It must have been fairly recent.

I believe it was in an issue that I got when I was briefly living with my sister up in Illinois from October of 2005 to March of 2006. I sold all of the issues that I'd bought up there (darn it) before moving back to Florida, because I didn't want mom to raise a fuss about my comic-collecting.

Anyway, yeah, Betty learned how to play *every* KISS song on electric guitar and won the contest, so she got to play with the band in their Riverdale concert.

Which just makes more recent stories of Betty playing the tambourine in The Archies that much more demeaning in comparison.
