  • Biollante: probalby, but 59 percent is considered a "blow out" in political terms, some people are on shaky ground right now, there was evne a conservative pollset that worked for Bush warning people that if Republicans are against things like gay marriage in the near future, they would endure catastrophic losses, I don't know if it's this political cycle, but the paradigm shift already happened a while ago

  • Steveinthecity: When Thor pulls the hammer back to throw, his momentum stops. He has always been able to float or hover once airborne, and he'll remain until the hammer comes back to him.  I guess the winds keep him aloft.

  • Biollante: ok so shouldn't Joe Quesada know that? lol  It made him look a bit stupid imo.

  • Jabroniville: Yeah, that's odd- Thor usually has the Hammer out in front. Though I don't think it's ever explained how he can throw it while in mid-flight and not just plummet like a goof. I wish artists would stop having him do things like that :)

  • Steveinthecity: @Biolante:  Thor uses the hammer to fly. He can throw his hammer during flight and float in one spot until the hammer returns to him. Don't know what Joe Q. was thinking there. I've never seen Thor fly on his own.

Interview with Archie Comics Prez Mike Pellerito
« on: May 19, 2011, 09:27:08 AM »
I wanted to put this in news, but I don't think I have the access to.

Anyway, here's a recent interview with Archie Comics President Mike Pellerito. Lots of stuff in here.

Really cool interview!  Seems like the changes that have been happening were well-received at Archie comics.

I still think that Archie should tackle a story on bullying, though.  I have the story they can use too.  ;)

Wow, he seems really excited and postive about the new Goldwater taking over and changing things.  Kind of a contrast from a past interevew from a few years ago from someone else I saw recently where it was like souless droning with stuff like "this comic is for 11 year old girls only" being strongly impled that was kind of off putting.  LOL.  It's good that morale seems up and there are now enthusiatic people who want to do new things again.  lol

Quote
He was a really nice guy, but he was just upset that we were putting Kevin in the books. And I said, "Well, what's the big deal?" He said, "It's going to be the sex." I was like, "Sex? What do you mean?" And he told me "Now that Kevin's here, there's going to be all this sex in the books." And I just said, "Look, you don't sound like a kid to me . You sound like an adult. How many sex scenes have you ever seen in an Archie comic book?"

"None."

I found this pretty funny. "It's going to be the sex."  That's almost as bad as, "All your base are belong to us."  That should be a meme or something.  There's definitley a few nutjobs who read Archie Comics.  lol

The thing I find troubling though is are they really rebooting Sonic continuity completely?  I dunno, I don't read it anymore, but one of the draws to that comic I think was the the 20 year continuity.  The only other comics with continuity like that out there are super hero comics, you have have nothing like that anywhere else with characters like Sonic.  Plus I'm really big on the characters that transitioned over from the saturday morning cartoon.  Theyr'e a lot more compelling to me than any of Sega Japan's characters.  I thought the point to having the other Sonic titles was to accomplish that.

What, no question about giving a certain Features Editor of Archie Comic Publications a raise? :)

Anyway, really liked the interview and I like his approach as an editor. "I've got this idea, here it is and who wants to do it?" And his ideas have been pretty good for the most part.

Kevin, I can't really comment on since I haven't read anything about him (where I live, only Double Digests and maybe whenever someone feels like putting The Married Life on a magazine shelf). But he seems like he's having a positive impact and he's selling. Can't really argue with that.

And the guy with the wrong idea about sex happening in Archie comics, did spring a good idea to mind. I think it would be a great story to have a teen pregnancy story. Archie, in a recent double digest, touched on drinking, but I'm sure that teen pregnancy hasn't been addressed.

Fantastic! It's great for the forum have a chance to interview the man in charge of things: what a dream job.  8)

I expect a future story on teen pregnancy in the Archies, but must be of a lighter nature being a comic book meant to make people laugh. More on the lines of the movie Juno, MTV's 16 and Pregnant, Teen Mom show, and Murphy Brown in the 1990s also addressed the subject of unplanned motherhood.

Good thing the Archies finally touched on teen drinking, to send a message on why one wait until they are 21 or mature enough at least.
