ARCHIE COMICS ANNOUNCES LAUNCH OF COMIC MAGAZINE
“LIFE WITH ARCHIE”

New York, NY (March 29, 2010): This July, Archie Comics—publisher of the world-famous Archie wedding arc, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Josie and the Pussycats, and Stan Lee Comics—will release “ARCHIE LOVES BETTY” and “ARCHIE LOVES VERONICA” as two separate ongoing series side by side in one magazine titled LIFE WITH ARCHIE—The Married Life.

Due to the vast amount of positive responses to the two new titles, “Archie Loves Betty” and “Archie Loves Veronica”—previously announced for release in standard comic book format—are being brought together into a more widely available format. The more mainstream platform of a magazine will enable greater accessibility of the already hugely popular ongoing series to a growing number of fans all over the world.

The larger format of the magazine will allow room for more vivid artwork and a more accurate reproduction of that art with higher quality paper and printing. The magazine format, to be titled LIFE WITH ARCHIE, is guaranteed to be the perfect package for this exceptional and pivotal series from Archie Comics!

Each series covers the detailed legacy of what might transpire in Archie’s most passionately debated futures: one married to the haughty debutante, Veronica Lodge, in “Archie Loves Veronica” and the other married to the compassionate girl-next-door, Betty Cooper, in “Archie Loves Betty.” Each issue of LIFE WITH ARCHIE also includes extras such as the premier issue’s exclusive interview revealing select secrets from Archie headquarters!

“The feedback from the press release announcing ‘Archie Loves Betty’ and ‘Archie Loves Veronica’ was so spectacular we were immediately charged with the task of finding a way to make sure everyone would be able to get to it,” reflects Archie Co-CEO, Jon Goldwater. “A magazine can be found anywhere!”

In addition to STAN LEE’S SUPER SEVEN, Archie comics on iTunes, Archie’s Red Circle superheroes at DC, and partnerships with Random House, IDW, and Dark Horse—the new magazine LIFE WITH ARCHIE is one more way Archie Comics has taken action to make Archie comics available to an entirely new world of Archie fans!

LIFE WITH ARCHIE will be available August 2010. Cover price will be $3.99 US and $4.49 CAN.

Wow.  It's been 19 years since I last heard the "Life With Archie" title.

So we're getting a magazine instead of two comic books?  I've read the press release over and over and that's how it sounds, but it's certainly unclear.  I'd rather have the two comic books myself, and won't get the magazine.

They really should use the "Betty" and "Veronica" logos on the current comics on this too so everything has the same look.  The font used here is rather basic and boring.  And why is it "BETTY" and "Veronica"???

I know, it could be clearer.

I wouldnt be happy with it being one magazine instead of two titles.  I'm only interested in one, the Betty one, and if it is one magazine, this would mean I have to pay more to get to read that than I would have with the seperate titles, and be forced to get it in a format I dont much like.

What a way to bring the title "Life With Archie" back.

In a way, it seems a little too soon to be putting them together into one magazine. I would prefer to have both of them in my hand as two comics.
When it comes to food Archie Comics, I'm an expert.

When I first read that, I thought it was still 2 separate comics but after reading everyone comments I re-read it and realised that it was both in only 1 magazine. I wonder how big the magazine will be? Will it be the same size as other magazines or comic book sized? It sounds like it will be regular magazine sized which will be pretty large. I'll probably still be getting it but I don't like the look of the new cover. The red at the top makes it look too retro, I think they should've given it a more modern look. The bottom half is okay though. The red and yellow just doesn't look that good. They should've got Dan Parent to design the covers. At least this cuts the cost down from $5.98 for 2 separate comics to $3.99 for both.

...I believe I SAW the announcement for " ALB " and " ALV " , but I didn't get around to reading it , so I hadn't actually found that there were going to be 2 alternate/possible universe 'til I saw this !
...I suppose it might be the same magazine size which Bongo published SIMPSONS CLASSICS in and Marvel published these variously titled things which mostly reprint the " Adventures " versions of some orf their heroes and pin-up/poster mags ?
Those mags are , mostly , for reprints , however , giving a second run to stories which (presumably) have already made their money back the first time around !
If they're going to make them original for that format , well...

...It always struck me as a kid that the logo of LIFE WITH ARCHIE sure seemed similar to the logo for " LIFE " magazine , the Henry Luce/what is now Time-Warner ( & DC Comics !!!!!!!!!!! )-owned picture weekly .
It is now perhaps forgotten/not known by younger people that the old Life magazine was , pretty much , the biggest magazine in Americ in the more-or-less " post-war " ( WWII ) years , though T-W now mostly uses it as an excuse to put out instant commemerations of beloved dead pop/movie stars/cultural figures .

I thought this new marriage series was a little odd to begin with and it's getting stranger.  If I were to guess, it's like a prep and promo for a new TV series (not necessarily a marriage series), like the Death of Superman was for the Lois and Clark show.  (Yes, it actually was.)

I do like this magazine format though.  This might be the future for Archie Comics instead of the floppies.

Great to see the revival of the "Life With Archie" title even if it's completely unrelated to the original.

I was hoping Rik would check out this thread to clarify what is happening, as I am not sure if we are getting the two monthly comics still?  Or is it just a magazine now?

Hi everyone, this is my fault for not making this clear. We originally talked about two monthly comics. However things have changed and now it is one magazine, "Life with Archie". Each issue of the magazine will have two stories, an "Archie Loves Betty" story and an "Archie Loves Veronica" story featuring the continuing adventures for the Married Life of Archie from Archie 600-606.

So Mister Ric is this magazine 64 pages? 48? 32? magazine size? does that mean TV guides current format of something smaller? please let us know!

...I theorized in my above post what6 size it might be , using two other companies' present-day issues of comic book material in magazine size...Or , there's  " Mad "'s size...Or , the " Judge Dredd Megazine " size , to be snarky here :-):-) !!!!!!!!!!! <heeheeheehee>
