  • Biollante: probalby, but 59 percent is considered a "blow out" in political terms, some people are on shaky ground right now, there was evne a conservative pollset that worked for Bush warning people that if Republicans are against things like gay marriage in the near future, they would endure catastrophic losses, I don't know if it's this political cycle, but the paradigm shift already happened a while ago

  • Steveinthecity: When Thor pulls the hammer back to throw, his momentum stops. He has always been able to float or hover once airborne, and he'll remain until the hammer comes back to him.  I guess the winds keep him aloft.

  • Jabroniville: Yeah, that's odd- Thor usually has the Hammer out in front. Though I don't think it's ever explained how he can throw it while in mid-flight and not just plummet like a goof. I wish artists would stop having him do things like that :)

  • Steveinthecity: @Biolante:  Thor uses the hammer to fly. He can throw his hammer during flight and float in one spot until the hammer returns to him. Don't know what Joe Q. was thinking there. I've never seen Thor fly on his own.

MICHAEL USLAN TO SCRIPT PUREHEART THE POWERFUL FOR ARCHIE COMICS!

Archie Comics made headline news this summer when it was announced that Michael Uslan (Executive Producer of "The Dark Knight", "Batman Begins") would be scripting "Archie marries Veronica"! The story was covered in front pages of newspapers around the word, and was featured in television segments from The Rachel Maddow Show, the Today Show, The View and Al Jazeera to name just a few! Both David Letterman and Jay Leno included the Archie and Veronica wedding in their monologues!

Early next year Archie Comics and Michael Uslan will will begin their next exciting project together with the re-imagining of Pureheart the Powerful (Archie as a Superhero), in a series of 5 specials.

Michael Uslan explains "We're not just talking ONE super-hero here! Archie will be joined by Betty as Superteen, Jughead as Captain Hero, Reggie as Evilheart, Jr., and wait'll you see the super-versions of Veronica, Dilton and Moose! Surprises galore are just ahead!"

Michael Uslan continues "Pureheart and Pureheart's Emergency Patrol will debut in a series of five one-shot comic books that bring back to life the five historic super-hero titles that launched The Archie Comics, originally known as MLJ Comics, back in the Golden Age of the 1930's and 40's:"

PEP COMICS introduced the world to the first red, white and blue patriotic American super-hero, The Shield (before that other guy who CARRIES a shield came along) and then in landmark issue #22 introduced the world to Archie, himself, in December 1941, a date that will live in infamy and hilarity. PEP COMICS was to The Archie Comics Group what DETECTIVE COMICS is to DC... its flagship title!

JACKPOT COMICS brought the world the adventures of Archie on the heels of his debut in PEP but also gave us many of the MLJ super-heroes of World War II. When JACKPOT returns in 2010, it's title will take on brand new significance that will shock today's readers! Stay tuned!

BLUE RIBBON COMICS transitioned MLJ from publishing pulp magazines to comic books in the late 1930's. The home to many super-heroes, it was briefly revived some years back as a special showcase for the T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents, and now returns to the Archie Comics line-up!

ZIP COMICS starred Steel Sterling, The Man of Steel (until another super-hero borrowed the latter moniker) and other Golden Age greats in an era where comic books had such cool titles as ACTION, SPEED, FLASH, WHIZ, and WOW! In 2010, it becomes a new home for a new generation of super-speedy super-heroes.

TOP-NOTCH LAUGH COMICS featured everyone from The Black Hood to Jughead over the years as the accent gradually moved to the word LAUGH. Together with the four titles above, it comprised "The Big 5" of MLJ and now will combine to give the world the ultimate Archie super-heroes, PUREHEART'S EMERGENCY PATROL!"

This is a very exciting launch for Archie Comics that represents both the company's heritage and the company's future. This project will have many twists, turns and surprises, demonstrating why Archie Comics are Cooler than Ever!

I heard this announced at Comic-Con, but I still don't entirely get it.

So basically it's five Pureheart specials using old Archie comic titles? None of them are ongoing? And they're going to be actual books, not digital comics as they were announced at Comic-Con?

Also... Evilheart Jr.? And didn't we already get superhero Veronica (Miss Vanity)?

I'm nitpicky today. :(

...Looks like Archie has that same obsession DC and Marvel have...

If that's all that it was, Archie Comics would have quietly released a one-shot or anthology with those same titles just to keep the copyright - or, heck, just done a few ashcan titles (never meant for sale, just to say "'K, look, we used the titles").

By making an announcement like this, it seems Archie Comics believes people will be eagerly anticipating the return of Pureheart.

Betty Cooper + Cheryl Blossom. It's inevitable.

Not yet, but there may be something coming later this year.

From his production company's website (http://www.theuslancompany.com/filmography.html):

Quote
Writer of the syndicated comic strip, TERRY AND THE PIRATES, (1995-96); Initiator/writer of JUST IMAGINE with Stan Lee's "Batman", "Superman", "Wonder Woman" and other DC super-heroes (2001-02); scripter of BATMAN and THE SHADOW comic books (the '70's); THE QUESTION in DC Archives Action-Heroes V 2; Will Eisner's THE SPIRIT (2009); THE SPIRIT BLACK & WHITE (2010); ARCHIE GETS MARRIED (2009-2010); LIFE WITH ARCHIE (2010); THE GREEN HORNET (2010); THE AVENGER MEETS THE GREEN HORNET (2011); MR. JUSTICE (2011); PUREHEART (2011).

It also mentions something called "The Pureheart Archives", but that's the only reference to that title that I can find. If you'd like, I can shoot of a couple of emails (to Rik and Mr. Uslan) to see if I can dig up more details on this.

Wouldn't doing something like the Archie Giant Series again have the same effect? I LOVED when we'd get new issues of Pep, etc. that way.
