LOOK BACK IN LAUGHTER WITH ARCHIE COMICS!

Archie Comics have always inspired a sense of nostalgia in their readers.  That's because the company has always strived to keep the stories faithful to the fads and fashions of each decade in which they were published.

It's also because the stories traded in Americana.  By setting the tales in the fabled town of Riverdale, an"everytown" mirror vision of suburbia where everyone knows each other by name, the company cemented Archie Comics as a safe haven for cherished memories.  Such memories were made of skinned knees and bee stings, followed by sock hops and drive-ins, and ultimately protests and progress.

Where Archie comics really resonate for readers is in the notion that"the more things change, the more they stay the same."

This February, a trio of stories examines this notion as only Archie Comics can, with its trademark humor coupled with heartwarming poignancy.  You won't want to miss these hysterical trips down memory lane!

"Stuck in the ‘80s": Break out the spandex and hair spray - the Archies are about to go all-out ‘80s for a special Riverdale High concert and Battle of the Bands contest celebrating the decade!  Hopefully Jughead won't get replaced by a drum machine!

Interesting, but how does that qualify as Veronica being "stuck" in the '80s?

"Carpool Cool": Veronica's going green... because her friend Ethan is the hunkiest environmentalist she's ever seen!

Gah. Yet another story where a female is "interested" in something, because a hunk is involved.

Because Goddess forbid that Veronica be interested in environmentalism for the Earth's sake.

Should I expect to see a really poor parody of Metallica (ie the usual bad image given to all hard rock and metal bands in the Archieverse) in this issue?

I like Veronica's "Madonna" look.  And, the cover background is very 80's MTV!  Dan Parent, you've been doing your research! Smiley

I would've guessed he would've known this stuff since he was around that time period (not calling him old or anything!!)

Hi Guys,
I admit it!  I'm a child of the 80's!  Well, actually the 70's, but the 80's were my more "formative" years!

What's funny is that when I started at Archie back in 1987, this was the style!  So all I really have to do is go back and look at my early issues!

Hope you enjoy the story!

Smiley  - Betty looks like my wife did back then.  Big "poofed" hair, etc.

I was a little more "punk", but this cover brings back some laughs.....

These all look excellent! There's something... different about the look of that first Jughead that looks a bit off, but, I like it nonetheless. I'm also loving the coloring of Veronica's hair on that 80's cover!

It looks like a fun issue Dan.  It's always interesting to see what you come up with.

I always liked your story where Veronica sold her stuff on ebay. Then she had to follow up and see what happened to the items.  I seem to remember the buyers being annoyed that the items they bought had the original owner coming to their homes as well to see what they did with the items.

You always bring an unusual perspective to the stories, and I mean in a good way.

Looking forward to all three issues.

I was born in 1982, so I don't really remember too much of the 80s, but it should be an enjoyable issue nonetheless.
