  • Biollante: probalby, but 59 percent is considered a "blow out" in political terms, some people are on shaky ground right now, there was evne a conservative pollset that worked for Bush warning people that if Republicans are against things like gay marriage in the near future, they would endure catastrophic losses, I don't know if it's this political cycle, but the paradigm shift already happened a while ago

  • Steveinthecity: When Thor pulls the hammer back to throw, his momentum stops. He has always been able to float or hover once airborne, and he'll remain until the hammer comes back to him.  I guess the winds keep him aloft.

  • Biollante: ok so shouldn't Joe Quesada know that? lol  It made him look a bit stupid imo.

  • Jabroniville: Yeah, that's odd- Thor usually has the Hammer out in front. Though I don't think it's ever explained how he can throw it while in mid-flight and not just plummet like a goof. I wish artists would stop having him do things like that :)

  • Steveinthecity: @Biolante:  Thor uses the hammer to fly. He can throw his hammer during flight and float in one spot until the hammer returns to him. Don't know what Joe Q. was thinking there. I've never seen Thor fly on his own.

It's some British series about a ventriloquist and his puppet (Archie Andrews). No relation.

Betty Cooper + Cheryl Blossom. It's inevitable.

Yea if you search Archie Andrews on Wikipedia you would get this message:

"Archie Andrews can refer to one of two fictional characters:

    * Archie Andrews (comics) is a U.S. comic book character.
    * Archie Andrews (puppet) is a British ventriloquist's puppet."
Archie Comics are my WHOLE life

Archie Comics = 781

Ga!  I sure hate puppets.  I cannot even relate in words how much I hate puppets.  They not only repulse me, they scare me and they make me feel sad.

Dumb puppet.
No matter where I go, there I am.  Creepy.

Please, just don't anyone tell Reggie about this item.  He'd never let Archie live it down.

According to http://www.guardian.co.uk/g2/story/0,,1839287,00.html, the puppet was created in 1946, which was before Archie Andrews of Riverdale showed up, so obviously it wasn't based on the comic book character. It was also popular mainly in the 1950s, before Archie Comics would have been very well-known in the UK.

Not meaning to correct the guy that has done so much for us, but our Archie Andrews first appeared in Pep Comics #22, cover dated December 1941 --- 5 years before the puppet showed up.

I'll grant you that UK versions of Archie Comics were a ways off, but... :)

An even wilder transAtlantic coincidence is that both America and England premiered DENNIS THE MENACE comic strips about entirely different mischievous boys within 3 days of each other in 1951!

...Yeh , I had read a while ago in a UK magazine's article about old UK radio series , or something like that , about the UK character , I thought this migaht be about that'n , , eh , mate ? ;)... :D
BTW , I have an unscientific impression that Archie comics are fairly obscure in the UK , I once posted on a more " adult " site asking that , and someone from Scotland even seemed to agree...And it's Betty's motherland , too :'( :( :embarassed: !!!!!!!!!!!

Do you mean Scotland or the UK in general?

I know Archie and Cheryl are of Scottish descent.

Betty, judging by her last name of Cooper, is of English descent. I think her name means her family made tires or something like that.

Actually, a "Cooper" is someone that makes barrels.
