Author Topic: Some Cartoon Animated Gifs of Alexandra and Melody I Did (Shipping Warning)  (Read 2203 times)

Um, I hope I'm posting this in the right subforum.  O__O

Anyways, I was watching my Josie and the Pussycats DVDs and saw a couple scenes with Alexandra and Melody that I thought would make cute gifs, so I made them. XDDD

I made these in Easy Gif Maker with some screenshots.  I pretty much used the exact frames from the animation.  The only tweaking I did was to turn up the brightness a bit and zoom in on the bike one in photoshop.  Speed is the only major thing that's different.  I'll try to add these to the gallery if I can figure out how to use it. XD

1st one is Alexadra patting Melody's head after she was brainwashed in "The Swap Plot Flop."

Last two are from "Melody Memory Mix-Up" from the part when Alexandra says she wants to help Melody "speed things up" on an exercise bike.  Probably my favorite scene from the show. XD

Large:

Small:

Sorry if they're kinda large.  Could've made them smaller I guess, but oh well.  XD  May do more if I find some more scenes I like.

While your pictures are innocent enough your heading should be cleaned up.  What is the obsession about this.  Frankly, I find it offensive.  I don't want to think about pairing up characters that I love in that fashion.  From what I remember about this site is that everything should be PG rated.  I am requesting this to be removed due to the intent not the content.

Ok, wait.  So the pictures are innocent, but the heading is bad?  What?  There's something wrong with the term shipping now?  It's a g-rated term in every context I have ever head it.

Second point, I gave you  a warning.  I mean I put their names in the title and said shipping warning in the title.  Don't know how much more clear I could be and then I follow up with g-rated content, and you still get mad at me.

Honestly, I'm disappointed in you personally.  Honestly, I find your harsh attitude toward me offensive.  You're acting like I posted pornography.  If this was like Betty and Reggie gifs, I doubt you would have responded the same way.  And there is probalby several thousand sexy Dan DeCarlo pics in the gallery, and two girls riding a bike THAT WAS IN THE SHOW AND AIRED HUNDREDS OF TIMES is out of line?  Am I only allowed to support ofificial pairings now?  What about people who like Betty/Jughead or pre-Life with Archie Betty/Reggie, etc.?  But wait, it's wrong becuase they're both female?  Are you actually arguing this post-Kevin Keller, seriously?

Reply back to this, because I'm honestly kind of mad right now.  Kind of felt like I was going out on a limb posting this here.  Thought it would maybe sink to the bottom.  Honestly, would've been fine with that.
I didn't think I was going to be hit with a homophobic kneejerk reaction by one member who talked to me normally before but now responded to me like I'm a criminal or something.  O__O

Melody/Alexandra isn't really my thing (I prefer Josie/Melody or Josie/Valerie, personally, but that's the movie lover in me talking), but, if J-Syxx likes Melody/Alexandra, then more power to...J-Syxx (sorry, I don't know if you're male or female ^-^'')! Heck, my avatar is Betty/Cheryl, and I have a quite prominent Betty/Cheryl sig pic as well. Shipping is part of any fandom.

Betty Cooper + Cheryl Blossom. It's inevitable.

In all honesty, I don't care about any form of "shippings" whatsoever.  I'm not interested in Breggie or Veggie or Beryl or Melexandra or whatever dyad happens to be portmanteaued this week.  If characters want to date other characters, that's fine and dandy with me.  I honestly don't care either way.  Clearly, some people on this site do, and that's well within their right to do so.  I certainly won't stand in their way.

I'd probably also offer the friendly suggestion that if someone has a personal problem with another member to take it off the boards through private messages.  But, that's just a suggestion.

Offline Banshee

Personally, I think character shipping is INSANE at best. (It's like some fans tend to live vicariously through "idealized" pairing between their favorite characters that THEY created for THEMSELVES.) What's more...some shipping could DESTROY my OWN crush on some character!  :embarrassed:

But then again, most character shipping (and many other stuff, naturally) is just a fantasy held so dear to some fans, so it's best to let them be - as long as they don't annoy the heck out of others, of course. ^_^

As CH suggested I will take this to a private message.

Some peopple get  digsuted when people portray canoically staright or non specpicifeid  charecter sexually as  being not stairght it  People tend to view it as destoying the fandom and such nonsense.  Which I do not understand why but that way people feel.   I  don't mind other ships that are not mine own as long they don't insult my pairing because of it.

CH I am sorry if my posting is troublesome by anyone.  But I am truly offended.  I admit that I was offended when Mark offered his story to anyone interested.  I would have thought that type of fanboy stuff would not occur here.  I am really considering leaving these boards.  I enjoyed my time but I am not interesting in participating in this type of discussions about characters I grew up with.

I didn't take offense to anything anyone posted at all!  I'm not angry with anyone.  :)

Please don't leave the boards over this.

Seriously? I think people should be allowed to post their favorite shipping regardless gender, race, and sex. And I think if someone disagree with someone's post, either directly private message them, have a discussion about the topic itself, or ask Oldiesmann to settle it.

I don't see anything wrong with this thread. I think it still in a category PG.

I understand that shipping gets pretty touchy, but this isn't really explicit.

I would still hate to see a member leave, though.

As for the "everything should be PG rated" thing mentioned in nocutename's first post in this thread, the Josie and the Pussycats movie was rated PG-13.

Offline Biollante

Well, I want to thank everyone for their input.  I don't really know how to respond to this thread though.  Someone else threatened to leave over it, I don't want to come off as an antagonizer.  I feel my initial response to her was justified, but I don't think she should leave.  I'd rather people get a long with each other.  I don't see why that can't happen here.  I argued with Frank over Archie canon for multiple pages, but it was fine because it was a civil discussion.

I don't see though why same sex shipping = sex though, which seems to be the crux of the argument here.  I mean shipping stands for relationship.  Your parents and your grandparetns may still be in a relationship.  When you see them hug or kiss or something is that about sex?  I just see this weird double standard being floated out there, and I don't like it at all.  This is also the thing Mike Pellirito got into when he talked about that guy calling to complain about Kevin bringing "sex" to Archie Comics.

For me, though, I like cute couples, and I like romance.  I like Alexandra with Melody because I think they're cute together with Alexandra being the kind of bossy, bratty girl that hides her vulnerabilities behind a wall of egomania and Melody being her foil as the weird scatter brained bubblehead that can't be affected by her behavior.   But for what it's worth, I'm also a fan of Josie/Alexander Cabot III, because I think they would make the most interesting couple for those two out of the choices available.

I also don't care if anyone likes my ships.  If you don't, that's fine.  I don't get angry about ships I'm not a fan of myself either.  I can get a long with Breggie fans, Archie/Valerie fans, Moose/Midge fans, Josie/Alan fans, or Archie/Jughead fans.  It doesn't matter to me.  It's like Brunette said, shipping is something personal.  You don't have to understand why someone likes some couple you don't, and that's fine.

I also don't see why you have to take part in shipping discussions or how what I do as a fan has any affect on your views on characters that were created over 40 years ago by someone who is sadly no longer living.

Lastly, I don't think girl/girl pairings is "fanboy stuff."  It's fan stuff.  I write girl/girl fanfiction, and about 70 percent of my readership is female.  Forums where this kind of stuff is discussed and fan conventions for girl/girl stuff are also very female with a smaller but sizable male demographic.  And girls are big into any kind of shipping whatever the genders involved are.  Guys too.  But it's definitely not a gender specific thing to do.
